* Short Life Span ...
It's adorable and works great! I used it mostly at night when I sleep. However, the motor will die within a year. So only buy it, if you don't mind spending the money to replace it every year.

Rainforest!
The Frog works VERY well!! We previously purchased the dragon and it was a total dud. I was skeptical to buy another Crane but for some reason the Frog is awesome. Highly recommend this for those chewy coughs and runny noses.

* Adorable and Funny, but works ...
The thing about this product is that it is a penguin and that it is so funny and adorable to look at. It is bound to brighten anyones mood when they walk into the room.
It is perfect to sit on any flat table surface and can operate for many many many hours at a time. The cool mist is cool to touch as one walks by and will make any room feel cool.

leaked on floor!
Our Penguin worked well for about a year, but then the warranty ran out and BAM! It shut down and leaked water all over the floor. We emailed Crane and asked for a repair center- they said that our penguin is defective, but that since we're out of the one year warranty time, they will do nothing.

* paint chipping away from the nebulizer?! ...
We've had our Crane Elephant humidifier for ~4 months, and probably used it a total of 3 weeks so far. We've also used the demineralization filter cartridges every time, and followed the manual's instructions for rinsing/drying the components each morning after we use it.
However, I just noticed something quite alarming with our humidifier today: There is black paint chipping/corroding from the nebulizer. (At first, I though the light-colored marks were all simply mineral deposits. However, after closer inspection, I saw that some of these marks are indeed the result of the paint chipping away.)
Considering my 2 year old just finished chemotherapy this past January, the last thing I want is for him to be inhaling harmful materials--especially during times when he is already congested.
After calling Crane Customer Support, the representative kindly heard me out, then calmly stated I shouldn't worry. She said that this is a known issue--the paint chips off the nebulizer on all of their Elephant humidifiers. However, she assured that the resulting paint chips are too heavy to be dispersed into the air.
As a concerned parent, I'm not so sure I can simply take Crane Customer Support's word on this.
If you've used your humidifier at least ~4 months, I'd appreciate if you could share thoughts/observations with the black paint on the nebulizer.
