Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Good and Inexpensive water filtering ...
I bought this 6 years ago. It's a standard design that has been used for maybe 40 years in labs to filter tap water for purity reasons. The new shut off valve in the top is a good idea. I use it under the sink instead of whole-house. The $5 carbon filter has to be changed about once every 6 months before the bad taste of tap water starts to come through again. If you haven't installed a faucet before, think twice before installing this under the sink. Even with experience it took me all day finding parts, going back to the store to get a flaring tool, cutting pipe, and fixing leaks. Open end wrenches for each nut was much better than my best adjustable wrench which was too thick to get in place.

The water goes in at the top from the side and down the walls of the heavy duty clear plastic (marked PPT on mine). Water pressure forces it through the filter which fits in the middle. The water returns back up in the middle to exit on the opposite side of the cap where it came in. The design allows for a large surface area (which does not reduce water pressure) and about 1 inch of filtration thickness. It's a heavy duty plastic.

I don't have it whole-house because because I want the chlorine to remain in the pipes as long as possible, so it's under the kitchen sink. Reducing the 3/4 fitting down to 1/2" under the sink was a pain with my copper tubing. It required carefully selected parts including 3/4 to 1/2 reducer (male on both ends), two 1/2" nuts, 4 sleeves, extra pipe, and a miniature pipe cutter. I could only find the "flared" reducer (a pointy end on the 1/2" side) so i didn't need the sleeves, but I had to go get a flaring tool. For whole house use, installation is probably easier, but the $5 carbon filters don't last as long.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome filter
I was lucky enough to already have one of these installed in the house I bought in 2004. Just the thing for a well water system. The drinking water gets further refined by a reverse osmosis filter, but no sediment in any of the water in the house.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Love it ...
5 stars for a water filter?

Well my current one conked out, and this is the replacement one that fits my existing filters. Best price I could find, no tax, no shipping. Sometimes Amazon really amazes me with the amount of stuff you can find here.

Unbolted my old filter, bolted this one in, and saved myself a fortune in plumbing costs. And the $50 worth of cartridges I have won't go to waste.

Couldn't be more pleased with both the product and Amazon

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - Good product, but misleading description
I would rate the product itself with 5 stars. Unfortunately, all I was looking for was the filter "insert" and opened the box to find that I'd bought the entire water filter housing unit, the wrench and the insert. So... a note of caution to anyone else who doesnt know the difference. Other than that, it is a great product, good instructions.

It's a measure of the ongoing popularity of Karen and Richard Carpenter that the 2002 release of this video collection in DVD format comes nearly 20 years after Karen's death. The duo's heyday mostly preceded the MTV age, so this 15-song, 55-minute anthology is a bit of a visual hodgepodge, composed of still photos, footage from TV shows and concerts, promo clips, fleeting attempts at conceptual videos, and other weirdness (film of Carpenters albums being pressed on the assembly line? Hey, whatever). You'll see an array of bad haircuts and outfits and a whole lot of lip-syncing, but in the end, it's the music that counts. And the Carpenters' signature sound, with its brilliant arrangements, its lush harmonies, and Karen's exquisite alto voice, was easy-listening pop at its finest. If nothing else, Carpenters: Gold offers another chance to hear that music in all its glory. --Sam Graham

With a gentle tug at the heartstrings, Evelyn tells the true story of an imperfect father whose devotion brought much-needed change to rigid Irish law. It's a labor of love for star and coproducer Pierce Brosnan, who brings just the right touch of Everyman charm to his role as Desmond Doyle, a struggling Dublin tradesman, father of three, and chronic pub-crawler whose wife abandons their family the day after Christmas, 1953. Desmond's a loving father who's boyishly irresponsible; Irish law dictates the removal of his children to stern Catholic orphanages, and his battle for custody is aided by two lawyers (Stephen Rea, Aidan Quinn) who seize this opportunity to revolutionize the courts. With straightforward, unobtrusive style, director Bruce Beresford draws fine performances from Brosnan, Julianna Margulies (as a barmaid who inspires Desmond's sobriety), and especially young Sophie Vavasseur in the title role as Desmond's bright, determined daughter. Sentimental without being saccharine, Evelyn is simple, well made, and bursting with genuine Irish spirit. --Jeff Shannon
