* Powershred For Sure ...
My third home/small business sherdder in 5 years. Each one has been bigger and more capable than the previous. Heat was the killer of the previous two. When you can only shred 10 sheets at a time, the run-time is longer than if you can do 15 or more. I do recommend "over estimating" your shredding needs when buying to ensure a long shredder life and an efficient shredding experience.
The SB-97Cs is powerful and quiet. It has worked great on paper, credit cards and CDs. Safety features are solid. It has been handling 15-20 pages if fed in straight and this is a huge time savings. As noted in other reviews, a fair amount of shred does collect in the base when you remove the basket but this is not hard to clean.
This unit is a workhorse and I highly recommend it.

Shreds great, but messy
My husband and I own an older Fellowes shredder -- only shreds 3 sheets at a time and it is several years old. We are packing up for a retirement move (if we can ever sell our house) and we have 35+ years of home documents to shred before the move. We started trying to shred using the old shredder -- it took hours to shred 1 year's worth of papers. So, when we saw this one on sale on Amazon for less than $180.00, we jumped on it. The write-up says it shreds up to 17 sheets at a time, and they weren't kidding! I buzzed through a year of documents in less than half an hour.
Cons: pretty loud, messy when you empty its wastebasket, safety sensor seems a little too sensitive.
BUT......I love how fast we are eliminating our years of documents.

* Who knew shredding could be so easy? ...
We are the typical house which receives mailings everyday that need to be shred. With this product we have not had to wait for a shredder to cool down or be unclogged by hand for the 4 months that we have owned it. I am continuously impressed with how the product easily stands up to continuous use for large or little amounts of paper. The size of the shredder stands almost as tall as my desk. Good thing it is pretty stylish and can stand on the floor alone. As far as noise goes, it is far less the previous 5 shredders we have had over the last two years. I would recommend this shredder.

Good Product
Got tired of shredding every individual sheet of paper received in the mail. No problems now! It chomps through multi-layers. Saves me time and frustration. I am very happy with this machine, it does what it said it would do. I'm happy!

* Fellowes Shredders have saftey issues with Auto Feed Sensors ...
I have owned one other Fellows shredder I bought at Costco. The shredder shred paper just fine and as advertised, but the Auto Feed Sensor malfunctioned and quit working entirely.
At first on my older model, it was possible to clean the sensor following Fellows instructions, Q-tip with rubbing alcohol, but it finally just stopped working all together, an electronic failure in the circuitry is my best guess.
I purchased this newer Fellowes Power Shredder because I feel having a non-working safety sensor is bad for kid and pets. But only after about 1-month of occasional shredding the sensor started getting flakey and completely stopped working. I noticed the shredder would turn itself on when I would turn on my microwave which shares a power strip with it which I thought was very strange. I don't have electrical problems in my home and my best guess is that these Fellowes Auto Feed Sensors are not designed well at all as many, many people complain about them breaking.
Yes cleaning them does work...for a while but they have a very nasty habit of just failing after some time, but with the Fellows Power Shredder it just broke, cleaning made not difference.
Mine is new enough I could return it under warranty for a replacement, BUT having to pack it up an pay for shipping the heavy item is just not work the hassle.
Fellows shredder from my experience are solid well working machines with the exception that the buyer should be aware of this safety issue and expect them to become MANUAL type shredders sooner or later.
