The vendor filled my order in record time. I think I had the CD 3 days after ordering it and that was with standard delivery. The CD is a Garmin product so if you own one of the GPS units that CD says it is compatible with you won't have a problem with it. Download on a Windows XP laptop went off without a hitch, HOWEVER, once you get past the initial download instructions (which are long enough to make you think you're done with the update) then the actual download starts. This will take several HOURS to complete, even on a speedy new computer. Garmin has got to do something about their download interface. This was like trying to drain a swimming pool through a drinking straw. Once loaded everything worked just fine. I still think Garmin has the best GPS user interface out there.

Product does not have the latest map information. I live near Greensboro, NC and there are some roads that have been in existence for over four years and are not included in this newest edition.

Buyer's feedback: - * Garmin Update ...
If you are going to get a GPS, I don't know why you wouldn't also update it periodically. The update took awhile to load and I don't know what is different yet but I certainly would recommed the product. The GPS has help us arrive smoothly to places we were unfamiliar with many times so far. As mentioned in other reviews, you can't follow any GPS blindly because the unit does not know what direction you are facing when you are stopped so it might send you in the opposite direction. If it does, once you are moving it will re-direct you to the right direction.

The unit performs great. We use it all of the time when we travel. There are some improvements that would make it excellent.
1. Map updates are too expensive. Should be free to download.
2. Requirement to enter a street address to locate should be changed to an option and allow one to select a city or town as the destination.
3. When unit is turned off by the off button, it should not activate when the ignition is turned on, causing you to have to shut it off again if you don't need it.

Buyer's feedback: - * City Navigator V8 update for Street Pilot i5 ...
I've had my Street Pilot i5 for 2 years now so I decided it would be a good idea to get the 2008 upgrade software, City Navigator V8. It took over an hour to download but that wasn't a big issue. My disappointment was as I started the download I got a message that "the internal memory in your unit isn't large enough to load the complete software, choose either Canada and the bordering states or the continental US". Living in New Hampshire made these option a disappointment because we've planned a trip to Canada this summer and also plan on going to North Carolina. I chose the continental US option. I then attempted to enter my son's address in North Carolina and it doesn't exist. The area he lives had been established in1999-2008. So much for a "2008 upgrade"!! I also have a friend in the next town down from us that was established in 2003-2004 and it's not in there. I used it today for the 1st time with the new software for a trip to Massachusetts. It took approximately 10 minutes to find the satellites, previously it never took more than a few minutes. As I came off the exit ramp for my destination, it said to take a right turn and the end of the ramp but the red line on the screen showed a left turn. I had been here before so I knew it was a left turn. Bottom line is don't waste your money on this upgrade, it was no improvement on my i5 and I feel that maybe the original software was better. I wish I had read some of the reviews on this before buying it because I see many similar experiences.
