Smart, Powerful Design
The nüvi 200 is built with a high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS receiver for extreme accuracy, as well as an SD card slot for storing your media and additional navigation tools, and a USB interface for loading data. All this is wrapped up in a package that measures 3.8 x 2.8 x .8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs just 5.2 ounces. The nüvi 200's 3.5-inch (diagonal) display is touchscreen-enabled, making it a cinch to control the device with your fingertips. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to five hours of battery life depending on use.

Navigate with Ease
nüvi comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, including a hefty database of more than 6 milliong points of interest (P0ls), such as hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more, that are searchable by name or category. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping. ln addition, the nüvi accepts custom (P0ls), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming P0ls.

I am very happy with this GPS. You don't need to spend hundreds on a unit. This model is basic but has all the main options anyone would need. It is accurate and gets me exactly where I want to go. These GPS units absolutely amaze me with their stunningly precise technology.

I bought this GPS and while it works fine out of the box, it came with outdated maps. There is a nice road in the area that's existed for at least 4 years that is a quick way to get to the interstate and it wasn't on there. I got on Garmin's website to download an updated map. It took 4 HOURS to download the updated maps to my computer (I have DSL, not dialup!), and then when I tried to put the new maps on my Garmin it would not go. I spent 2 evenings after getting off from work and a total of another probably 8 hours trying to put the maps on and they not only didn't go, but the Garmin software deleted what was on it from the factory! I ended up with a nice, new GPS with NO maps whatsoever on it. Not very useful, huh? When I called Garmin to see what they would do they said that they would send me a disc of the maps or connect me with tech support to try to resolve the problem. By this time I had had enough of trying to fool around with it, so I ended up sending it back to Amazon for a refund and I've since bought a Tom Tom GPS. I won't buy a Garmin product again.

She has made a few minor mistakes, but compared to our efforts without her, she is a gem. Always patient and pleasant and willing to find us a new route if we don't turn where she says. Finding restaurants, motels and grocery stores while we are traveling is so easy. You can even choose ethnic and she directs you to your choice of any that are near by.

However, occasionally my husband still stubbornly "knows better" even with 2 women shouting at him. Maxine can't do anything about that.
