The 4.3-inch backlit widescreen touchscreen gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.


Smart, Powerful Design
nüvi is built with a high-sensitivity GPS receiver for extreme accuracy, as well as an SD card slot for storing your media and additional navigation tools, and a USB interface for loading data. All this is wrapped up in a package that measures 4.8 x 2.9 x 0.8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs just 6.6 ounces. The nüvi display is touchscreen-enabled, making it a cinch to control the device with your fingertips. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to five hours of battery life depending on use.

nüvi comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, including a hefty database of more than 6 milliong points of interest (P0ls), such as hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more, that are searchable by name or category. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping. ln addition, the nüvi accepts custom (P0ls), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming P0ls

This was my first experience with a auto GPS. The nuvi200w was a very delightful addition. Traveling from Oklahoma, through Dallas, to Houston and around Houston was breeze. Directions were loud, clear, and accurate. Even when purposely missing directions, it was quick to re-calculate the next set of directions to get me back on course. The more expensive units may have more features, but this one was well worth the money for me.

The Good
*Great price.
*Excellent screen. Bright, and works with polarized sun glasses.
*Small, sleek.
*Loud.
*Fast, excellent and well-thought out user interface.
*More or less every language known to man.

The Bad
*No UBS cable and no software CD. Software can be downloaded and standard mini-USB works.
*Less than accurate maps. My unit came with the 2008 city navigator, but it doesn't know the current I-75 / I-4 junction in Tampa, many exits near it, or the current I-4 / SR 408 interchange in Orlando. Also, it randomly thinks roads aren't connected, takes you around totally unnecessary curlicues when you could've just made a simple turn, and thinks a straight road suddenly shifts requiring two quick subsequent turns. It tells you to make left turns or U-turns over raised medians that have been in place for close to a decade and suggests U-turns where they are expressly forbidden. Street names are haphazard, and it can't decide if something is 50th St. N or N 50th St, irrespective of what street signs actually say. Many of the points of interests also have no common spelling; you can look for PFChang, P.F.Chang, P.F.Chang's and not find any of the locations that are spelled differently.
*ABC Keyboard. You have upgrade to a higher-end unit to get QWERTY. Since it's a touch screen, this is a totally ridiculous crippling of the unit.
*The quick-start manual is just that. No decent documentation to properly use the more complicated features of the unit came in the box.
*Only female voices. This is a bit weird, and I don't mind, but it seems like an odd limitation.
*Grammatical errors with languages other than English even with basic things such as distances (this is nitpicking, but languages with more complex conjugation suffer from this pretty badly.)

I bought both the GPS and the beanbag dash mount! Both are working out really great! Easy to use and now I know exactly where I am and how to get there..If only it could keep track of the construction! Seriously - the GPS is user friendly and easy to see.
