slim form factor
Garmin's nüvis pack top of the line features into a slim form factor.
Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen

and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen
4.3-inch screen

New Features -- Where Am l? Where's My Car?
The nüvi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: 'Where am l?' and 'Where’s my car?'

At any time, with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, all nüvi 700s automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount.

New Features -- Multi-Destination Routing
This lets you enter several spots into the device (day care - supermarket-cleaners - office - day care, for example) and it will plot the fastest route. And once you've found the best router, the 'Route Planning' feature lets you save up to 10 different routes, Garmin touts the feature for providing, 'the most efficient route for errands, deliveries and sales calls.' The feature also makes this an instant essential accessory for anyone who shops garage sales (you know what we're talking about).

A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.

See Better, See More
The super-bright, 4.3-inch (diagonal) touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. lt offers 2d or 3D perspective views.

The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

First Rate Map Data
All nüvi 700s come preloaded with highly detailed City Navigator NT road maps for the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million points of interest (P0ls), including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping.

lmportant note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by will come with the most recent map version. lf you ever need a map update, you can get one from Garmin at http://www8.garmin.com/unlock/update.jsp. You will need to have your device's serial number ready.

Hands-Free Calling
ln more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit. Wlth Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker, you can match your nüvi to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls. Simply dial the phone number with the nüvi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone. To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone. Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer. ln addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log.

lntegrated FM Traffic Receiver
TMC traffic service coverage map
Steer clear of traffic with an integrated FM traffic receiver designed to receive alerts from TMC Clear Channel about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.

ln most areas, TMC Clear Channel traffic broadcasts are continuous — there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. Because traffic broadcasts are received via a 'silent' FM data channel, you can still listen to music or news programming on your car radio without interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.

A 3-month subscription to TMC Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network is included with purchase of this device. For more information on subscription fees, coverage in individual cities, and traffic data networks in the United Kingdom and Europe, check the Garmin website.

Garmin Lock

Easy To Use lnterface
Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things that makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip.

Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Never again ...
This is my first and last Garmin product. Received it 2 days ago and added address in Europe as I am getting ready to leave in 2 days. This morning it was all gone. I tried to register the 770 and when the serial # is entered it says that the unit is already registered. I sent an email to support and I get the cookie cutter response and the idiot on the other end telling me I may be not finding the right number. After 4 emails (almost the same response every time) I will be sending this back and will never purchase from Garmin again. Very poor support and terrible unit. Glad I have my iPhone for my trip.

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - Incorrect navigation
I just received it and used it five times. Three out of five directions had major errors. The first sent me down a one-way street the wrong way, even though the street was changed to a one-way street in 2004; the second directed me to a highway via a dead-end street that was blocked off in 2001; the third told me to "keep left and turn on Glendale Road." Glendale Road was on the right, not on the left, and the misinformation could have had deadly results in heavier traffic. Beware that Garmin often gives out of date and faulty information.
A second complaint deals with the primitive speech technology. Most speech synthesizers today do a much better job. Examples: "Route 2 East" comes out Route Tweest". It also does not give you an option to repeat instructions; if you miss it the first time, forget it.
Finally, the product description on Amazon does not include either a mount or a power cord as coming with the product, but does show both items as desirable options to buy. The Garmin nuvi 770 does come with both a mount and a power cord.

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - * Not ready for primetime ...
I've bought Nuvi 770 to upgrade from my "obsolete" StreetPilot 2720.
Found following problems:
1. Twice screen had gone blank during driving and I picked wrong highway while trying to revive the damn thing.
2. On my old navigator the screen is smaller but I could configure it such way so I saw on screen all the data like distance to destination and elevation.
On the new one to see distance to destination I have to go to a different screen, elevation is not displayed at all.
3.To get back to the map you have to press "Back" many times, on the old navigator there is a nice button "map" that takes you right to the map.
It doesn't sound like a big deal but after pressing 'back' many times you will hate it.
4. Some features are ridiculous: who's going to view pictures with image viewer while driving? FM unit couldn't find any available frequency on my radio so I could play MP3 player only through internal speaker that sounded terrible.
5. Navigator lost voice during driving, turned out voice setting changed from "American English" to "Afrikaner" by itself, so I had to fiddle with it while driving to figure it out and set it back.
6. Turns are announced 0.2mi before the turn, the old navigator did it 0.5mi before the turn, I've missed a few turns because of this.

Needless to say I'm happy with my old navigator now.

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - Your not serious..
Paid $500 plus for a GPS, and the bluetooth firmware didn't work and I had to edit some files for the maps to load properly. Sent it straight back & will buy the Tom Tom equivalent model.

Dissapointed to say the least, & won't be going near Garmin again.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Works great, all option on the money ...
I also read a lot of the reviews here and did have a few reservations before I bought the 770 based on those reviews.

But ultimately I did buy it and it's been absolutely amazing! The bluetooth handsfree for the phone worked flawlessly, the FM traffic is spookily on the money (I'm a professional photographer living in NYC and it even re-routed me around median grass mowers)!!!

From what I've read there does seem to be lemon's out there, so I would recommend testing all features when receiving the unit but it's been a absolute marvel for me and I can only give it 5 stars so far. One of the things that I would strongly suggest is to read the online manual before buying (which can be found here):

[...]

Other than that, just haven't found a fault with it besides the battery life, oh, and the price of map updates.

There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. Oddly, the film's initial soundtrack release may have been the project's most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects much of that oversight, offering original film versions of "Sparkling Diamonds" (the lavish, Nicole Kidman-performed medley of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl"), Jim Broadbent's and Richard Roxburgh's loopy take on "Like a Virgin," as well as the lively Offenbach "Can Can" parody "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)." It also pays homage to the efforts of composer Craig Armstrong, whose quietly compelling underscore often binds the film's other far-flung musical influences together, be they stately orchestral readings of Elton John's "Your Song," a dramatic arrangement for Kidman and Ewan MacGregor's original film duet of "Come What May," or his dark, melodramatic take on Queen's "The Show Must Go On." The first Moulin Rouge soundtrack collection flaunted the film's bold, cross-genre ambitions; this one chronicles its nakedly emotional heart and soul. --Jerry McCulley

It would be easy to dismiss Kelly Osbourne's musical ambitions based on 1) Her royally obnoxious behavior on the family's MTV reality series, 2) Her overly manufactured debut album, Shut Up, and 3) That voice, which up until now, sounded like cats on a chalkboard. But spare a moment for the bratty singer's follow-up effort, a remarkably faithful new-wave throwback, which generously references everyone from Duran Duran to Missing Persons. Producer Linda Perry not only effectively revives the dramatic sounds and melodies of the era but offers songs that perfectly suit Osbourne's, er, constrained vocal range. The resulting disc is full of guilty pleasures like "Uh Oh" and "Redlight," tunes that should strike a chord with anyone that still gets a thrill out of happening upon basic cable reruns of "Sixteen Candles." --Aidin Vaziri
