Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * Very good device. ...
I liked this unit very much except for the bulkiness. I returned it and I'm looking for a gps device that does the same things, but is more compact. Bluetooth is a great option on this unit.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - Garmin GPS
GPS is super product. Would have been completely lost on trip to NY. Did have problem mounting it on bean bag. It does not fit with the mount that came with the unit. But there is nothing stating this. I contacted Garmin and they were awhere of this issue and sent free mount imediately. Also we can not use MSN because it is not available in the town we live in. Tried to use it in a recent trip to NY and the intial MSN startup using product code etc. did not work. Reactivate on line states it should be working. Next step is to call when we are in a location where MSN provides service.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Garmin GPS C580 ...
All I have to say is awesome product. So awesome I bought another one for my other car and then my dad saw it work and he bought one. If you buy this make sure you go to any electronic store and buy a wireless FM transmitter so you can hear the gps through the car speakers. Another cool thing is that you can download over 5000 songs into this little creature. Say you are driving and listening to the music then the gps says turn here the music stops so you can hear the gps also you are driving and listing to your tunes and your cell phone rings. The music stops so you can hear your phone and then it tells you who is calling on the caller ID. Call me old fashion but this product is just awesome and it also will tell you when there is traffic ahead and route you another way. It does so much more, but I do not work for Garmin and when they want to pay me for my opinions I will share more about their products. I hope this helps you in your decission.

Only con I have about this is the speaker on the unit but once you get the wireless FM transmitter you can make it as loud as you like through the car stereo. One more thing the C580 has internet and the C550 has none. Both models are awesome.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - Great GPS; a steal
The Garmin StreetPilot 580 is an awesome GPS especially at the price I had paid for it ($189.99). Gives accurate directions all the time and although I have not started my one-year trial for the MSN Direct service yet, I am fully satisfied with the product. There are a few times when it takes me to a more complicated route (i.e. taking more turns to get to an address but still going to the right place). Also, with this product, you might want to consider updating/buying a map upgrade since it is a little dated. Overall, I would recommend this GPS to anyone who wants a whole lot of feature for a bargain.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Where have You been all my life ...
no more stopping to ask for directions, taking the long way or looking for a good place to eat or shop. This gps is Great! It works very well for me and i use it every day I work because I do alot of service calls. I no longer have to rely on mapquest printouts, I can leave from one site and punch in the next location and have directions in seconds. The MSN direct is a realy nice feature which you get free for a year and you can pay $35 a year after that or pay like $175 for a lifetime. I am thinking of getting it for a lifetime after my year is up, you can search local gas prices, movie times, find stores, get telephone numbers, find the nearest hospitals and more. With your bluetooth phone connected you can find what you are looking for with the gps and call directly from it handsfree! Overall, great product, easy to use and well worth it for anyone who has to run calls, deliver pizzas or just someone new in a city.

Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.

November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.

Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.

The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.

Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.

The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.

The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
