This is my first use of a GPS. I can only say, this was extremely easy to use. It had everything I needed. The voice was not intrusive and the directions were easy to follow. We used the detour feature and it worked great. Finding a restaurant was so easy and setting up the security was a piece of cake. I love it

I bought the car adapter, but just remember that the gps comes with one. So it's not absolutely necessary to buy this. My only comment is that the cord is rather stiff, making it difficult to use. Otherwise, functionally, it's fine.

I think it's a crime for Amazon to sell this cable without noting the full Garmin set had already cable in that package. One who wants to buy this item should be one who already lost or needed even if he had a cable.
