Review:
For arid climates or the dry cold days of winter, running a steam humidifier indoors often protects the inhabitants' skin from chapping or itching, allows stressed lungs to breathe with comfort, and infuses moisture into the room to the benefit wooden furniture, upholstery, and houseplants to prevent them from becoming brittle or parched. Honeywell created their Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier for all of these purposes and more, enhancing a room's humidity in record speed.

Best suited for rooms up to 1400 square feet in size, the humidifier's heater is crafted in stainless steel for quick heat production and trouble-free cleaning. The compact humidifier outputs 4 gallons of warm steam for each full tank of water. This humidifier offers users a timer function for running the unit for preset periods, ranging from an hour to the maximum 18-hour setting. Digital controls and the easy-to-read LCD screen enable users to alter or monitor current preference settings. A medicine cup allows users to run the humidifier as a vaporizer for stuffed noses, sore throats and other respiratory illnesses. An automatic shutdown feature reduces safety hazards. Humidifier water should be changed frequently and the tank washed well each week to prevent bacteria, mold, and other impurities from developing, though the heating process should kill many of these unhealthy particles. As with any electrical home device, read all manufacturer guidelines and instructions prior to use. This humidifier measures 15.55 by 14.57 by 10.24 inches and weighs 6 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Testimonials

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Same problem as so many others ...
I also wish I had reviewed this product better before purchasing. Mine quit after less than a week of use. I did wake up the am of the death, to find it was out of water, but I thought this unit shut itself off, when out of water, maybe not. I did find it had heavy calcium build up on the heater plate and pad, After using only four times, I was surprised at this. I cleanded it throughly, retried it over and over again, removing the unit, replacing it again and again, it is just dead.

This unit is VERY particular about how the front unit sits on the machine. The instructions say you should hear a click, when put in place, never from the first time did I hear this click.

But I loved this unit, when it was working. I swear my husbands snoring decreased to almost nothing. And that is why I want to give it another chance.

I was just going to trash this, because I was afraid shipping back would be too high, but when I went through the return process through Amazon online, and found the return shipping was free, heck yes this thing is going back.

I did opt for a replacement, as opposed to a refund, so will wait for the new one for more comment.

Kudos to Amazon for their great return policy. NO online company I know of, gives you free return shipping for a default product. Thank you Amazon.

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - Good concept, poor quality
I bought a Cool Moisture Humidifier (HCM650) first, but I had to return it because of a faulty humidistat, and I got this one (HWM450) instead. Many reviewers complained about the humidistat not moving from 20%. This unit also had a non-functioning humidistat, but it was very quiet, and I was willing to live with it. The warm moisture humidifiers require more maintenance, but it was not too difficult to do it, while it lasted (just 4 days). I noticed that the medicine cup was useless, the small amount of medicine that fits in the cup did not evaporate a single bit.
On the 4th day it stopped working and the maintenance light went off, meaning that it required cleaning. I did it, I even left it all night with vinegar and I left it clean as new, but it never worked again. I called customer service and they told me to return it.
I will not buy a Honeywell humidifier ever again. Actually, these humidifiers are made by "Kaz", who also manufactures products for Vicks, Braun and other brands.
I did like the design, but I'm rating it based on my own experience and not on what the devices were supposed to do. If you think about buying it the question is, do you feel lucky today?

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Works fine for us! ...
Our house has forced hot air heat and a humidifier in the heating system. In the coldest, dryest part of winter the builtin humidifier is not enough when the dew point outside is in single digits.

Last winter I bought 2 of these units and put them in 2 bedrooms. On the coldest, dryest nights I fill both before bed and turn them on. They really help, particularly if someone has a winter cold. At the end of the winter season I clean them, put them back in the boxes they were delivered in, and store them in the basement.

Last week was cold and dry so I got them out, filled them and turned them on. Today I bought a third one for our third bedroom, where our 4 year old grandson sleeps when he stays with us. I think it will help his morning cough.

Ours have worked fine for us!

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - Still works
I was hesitant buying this unit after reading some of the reviews, but I have to say I have no regrets in getting it. I have used this humidifier for three months now and it has worked well. I use it every night. I bought a second one for a friend and hers has worked well for at least two months now. She uses it day and night and no issues to report. I like the warm steam because the air feels much more comfortable than the cold water humidifiers, also there is less chance for bacteria issues than like with the cold water units.

Some reviewers that think their humidifiers were busted may have in fact thrown away a good unit. Note the following:

1. You have to make sure the power unit is seated properly into the base. There are metal contacts that must align and If they don't align, the humidifier will not work. That happened with my friends unit. My heart sank when I first turned it on and nothing worked. I re-seated the power unit and it worked from then on.

2. When after re-filling the water tank and re-install it, I always have to adjust the humdistat control to get the unit to operate. I turn it to low then to high. After doing this procedure the out of water indicator turns off and the unit starts to work again. This is a quirk but the unit still works fine. Not an issue for me.

3. You need to keep the heating plate clean. If you let the plate get severely crusted up, it can't transfer the heat to the water and it won't steam properly.

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Flash in the pan ...
I purchased this 2 months ago and had to throw it out last week. It totally died. Not worth the poostage to return it. Other Honeywell products lasted longer.
