The Humminbird PiranhaMax 220 Fish Finder is a for recreational anglers ready for a step up from factory-installed fish finders. The PiranhaMax 220 offers incredible ease of use with true, grayscale images and a host of convenient features, making it the perfect companion for your fishing outings.

The Humminbird PiranhaMax 220 uses dual-beam, 20-degree and 60-degree sonar that operates on the 200 kHz and 83 kHz frequencies. Able to cover a wider area for fish, and provide more precise bottom detail, this fish finder is reliable down to a depth of 600 feet, and provides you with a target separation of only 2.5 inches. This unit utilizes a high-speed, microdynamic transducer that provides optimum performance even at top speeds, and includes water temperature via the transducer.

The PiranhaMax 220 has a high-definition, 4-inch FSTN LCD display with 240 x 160 lines of resolution in 4-level grayscale that delivers a clearly better image of the bottom, fish and structure. I have to give it a five because it is exactly as advertised. It functions as advertised. I use it in 5' to 30' and it when set up (using the menu) as suggested it shows the stumps, brush, and stickups. I think that some would say it doesn't do this or it doesn't do that but COME ON, it only cost 100 bucks. My bottom line on a product is it a good value for the money. Yes this is.

Buyer's feedback: - Reliability in question
Received this device last year; it was easy to install and operate (except that the printing on the on/off button was upside-down). It did everything I expected of it for a while.

Unfortunately, one year and 14-days after purchase (just after the warranty elapsed, of course), it stopped working. Nothing happens when I push the on/off button. Got power to the plug... just doesn't come on.

One very unhappy customer.

Easy to install and operate, used mostly for a depth gauge in shallow water great unit for the $'s if you don't need color or a GPS, couldn't ask for more; it does what it is supposed to do, finds the fish and lets me know how deep the water is. Very portable if you dock the boat just unplug it and take it with you. Did a lot of research before choosing one, online and at the local stores. Own a few other Garmin units (GPS's) they are the best IMO.

I purchased this Fish Finder to use it on my X-Factor Kayak. I wired it up with a 12vdc 8ah battery and it runs for days on end with out a recharge. This finder is great if you just want the basics, but I think for about $50 more you could get a little nicer unit like the Matrix series. If your looking for something small and cheap this is the way to go. If you want GPS and other features look else where.
