0ur opinion:

:
JBL 0n Stage ll, a compact, high-performance sound system, is a revolution in personal sound for all iPod players. Connected to your iPod, MP3 player or other music source, JBL 0n Stage ll will provide clean, powerful sound. The wireless RF remote control provides the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room or in another room, or outside, from up to 50 feet. Play, pause, forward track and reverse track... all at your fingertips. A simple press will increase or decrease volume, mute and more. A convenient clip keeps the remote handy, as you move about your environment.

:
Set your music free as only JBL can do it with the black 0n Stage ll iPod speaker system. The compact yet powerful high-performance system employs a quartet of 0dyssey neodymium full-range drivers to fill your room with clear, accurate sound and all the volume you (and your friends and neighbors) can handle. lt's the perfect accessory for bedrooms, smallish apartments, basements, and any other space where a full-size speaker system is pure overkill.

The 0n Stage ll incorporates Apple's universal iPod dock adapter, which works with most docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod video 5G and 5.5G and the iPod nano 1G and 2G. Simply slide your iPod into the dock and you're set--no additional cords to connect or adapters to fuss with. As an added convenience, the 0n Stage ll also offers an auxiliary input for connecting a variety of other portable audio devices, including the iPod shuffle, personal MP3 and CD players, desktop and laptop computers (all platforms), and satellite radio receivers. As long as your portable audio device has a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack connection, you can play the audio through your 0n Stage ll speaker.

As a bonus, the 0n Stage ll comes with a wireless remote control, giving you the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room or in another room--up to 50 feet away (including through walls). The system itself, meanwhile, includes easy-to-use touch controls for the volume and mute, and even remembers your last volume setting after it shuts down. The system, which offers a frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz, measures 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall and weighs 1 pound. lt's also backed by a one-year warranty.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * Excellent Quality ...
The product has excellent quality.

Range of the remote is pretty good. The device was decently priced.

Sound quality was pretty good.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Nice
sounds great for it's size, not a ton of bass but again pretty good for the size.

I put this in the middle of my house and it fills the whole place with nice clear sound.

You can't beat it for under 50 bucks

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Works very well! ...
I've been using this speaker for a couple months now and it looks great and sounds great. I like that it's not larger than necessary. It fits well on my tv stand. I haven't used it outside, but for in my home, I love it. The remote works very well, even if it's not pointed directly at the unit. I plan on purchasing another for my bedroom. As long as you aren't planning on using it for a party of 200 people in a huge room, it's a great buy!

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - Nice little product which lacks bass
First of all I'm a big time JBL fan. I recently replaced all my car speakers with JBL and just love them.

Coming back to the "JBL On Stage II"... this is a nice little product. Wanted something to actually hook my ipod into after getting back from work to charge it. The unit is simple to setup and I did not find the adapter too bulky. It comes with an remote and has a nice feature to lock it if you are not using the remote.

I have 2 complaints against this product:
#1. This unit lacks bass. I played songs heavy on bass and was not impressed.
#2. The equalizer settings on my ipod does not have any effect when playing music through this system.

Something else I noticed was unusual... I have this unit hooked to my computer. When I switch the unit OFF (with my computer being ON) the ipod still remains ON showing that it is being charged.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * JBL Speaker System ...
We bought this speaker docking system for our son's room - we wanted something with good sound but also something that was small and stylish. This fit's the bill - The speakers sound much better than other system's within the price range. The black docking system seemed to be selling for almost half as much then the white or pink one - no idea why. the reasons I didn't not give this item 5 starts is that 1. It HAS to be plugged in to the wall to work - it would be nice if it had a battery option that was it would actually be portable. 2. Although the speakers sound good, it's no Bose system, but for the price we think it was a good buy. 3. The speakers sound good to a point, we use the system on a low volume, it doesn't sound great when you turn the speakers up to a loud volume. Hope this helps.

On paper, the Mio DigiWalker P550 looks to be an attractive gadget for the mobile professional, combining the capabilities of a PDA and GPS into one device. However, its poor battery life and subpar navigation skills tell a different story.

Though it won't appeal to the masses quite yet, the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet is a nice, portable device for on-the-go Web browsing, and it has some worthy upgrades.

Though it has a few design and performance glitches, the Sony Ericsson W300i is a quality, basic MP3 cell phone.

Diesel vehicles have nearly a 50-percent market share in Europe, thanks to tax incentives and diesel-friendly legislation across the EU. Diesels are so passé there that you can buy a BMW 730d and no one will think it odd that your luxury car burns oil. Pull up in a diesel 7-Series in America and people would leer at you like you've alighted from an amphibious vehicle reeking of saltwater and dead trout.

But now, thanks to the oft-reported combo of newly-raised CAFE standards, not-so-newly-raised gas prices, and the 50-state diesel engine, GM, Ford, and Chrysler are about to dip more than a hesitant toe into the diesel game. Chrysler offers a diesel in the Grand Cherokee, but soon all three automakers will offer diesels in their best-selling lineups of light trucks -- the Dodge Ram 1500 is expected to offer a 50-state diesel after 2009. Light trucks are being used to lead the charge since those buyers stand to gain the most with the least amount of (perceived) sacrifice.

Diesels currently have 3.2-percent of the American market. Some estimates put them at 15-percent by 2015. That's a huge leap, and diesel still has plenty of hurdles. Diesels will come with a cost premium over gasoline-engined cars. That should be easy enough to conquer -- incentives and some quick cost and longevity calculations should convince people of the benefit. The real hurdle is the nagging issue of perception. The plan will probably be to attack that with a price that makes the proposition unbeatable. Said Chrysler's director of environmental affairs, "If it's priced right, we can sell diesel here. Diesel can give you an immediate poke in fuel economy -- 20 to 40 percent. Not many technologies can deliver that today."

It's a measure of the ongoing popularity of Karen and Richard Carpenter that the 2002 release of this video collection in DVD format comes nearly 20 years after Karen's death. The duo's heyday mostly preceded the MTV age, so this 15-song, 55-minute anthology is a bit of a visual hodgepodge, composed of still photos, footage from TV shows and concerts, promo clips, fleeting attempts at conceptual videos, and other weirdness (film of Carpenters albums being pressed on the assembly line? Hey, whatever). You'll see an array of bad haircuts and outfits and a whole lot of lip-syncing, but in the end, it's the music that counts. And the Carpenters' signature sound, with its brilliant arrangements, its lush harmonies, and Karen's exquisite alto voice, was easy-listening pop at its finest. If nothing else, Carpenters: Gold offers another chance to hear that music in all its glory. --Sam Graham

With a gentle tug at the heartstrings, Evelyn tells the true story of an imperfect father whose devotion brought much-needed change to rigid Irish law. It's a labor of love for star and coproducer Pierce Brosnan, who brings just the right touch of Everyman charm to his role as Desmond Doyle, a struggling Dublin tradesman, father of three, and chronic pub-crawler whose wife abandons their family the day after Christmas, 1953. Desmond's a loving father who's boyishly irresponsible; Irish law dictates the removal of his children to stern Catholic orphanages, and his battle for custody is aided by two lawyers (Stephen Rea, Aidan Quinn) who seize this opportunity to revolutionize the courts. With straightforward, unobtrusive style, director Bruce Beresford draws fine performances from Brosnan, Julianna Margulies (as a barmaid who inspires Desmond's sobriety), and especially young Sophie Vavasseur in the title role as Desmond's bright, determined daughter. Sentimental without being saccharine, Evelyn is simple, well made, and bursting with genuine Irish spirit. --Jeff Shannon
