0ur opinion:

:
Slide your iPod nano Gen 2 into the incredible JLab MiniBlaster G2 and you've got the coolest gadget in the world! This ultra portable stereo speaker fits right in your pocket and allows you to blast crystal clear sound from your iPod nano any time and any place... walking, at the beach, camping, hanging with friends, and everywhere you go.

:
iPod speaker systems come in many shapes and sizes, but few are quite as handy as the MiniBlaster G2 from JLab Audio. Designed expressly for the iPod nano 2G, this ultra-portable pink stereo speaker fits right in your short pocket, letting you haul along crystal-clear sound to the beach, to the campsite, and just about anywhere else. ln short, it turns your iPod nano into a legitimate boombox, but in a housing that measures only 1.75 by 4 by 1.25 inches (W x H x D). The system includes a custom silicone skin that holds your iPod nano 2G in place, along with a 3.5 mm extension cable and a 6-volt AC power adapter. As an alternative, you can also run the MiniBlaster G2 on four AAA batteries (not included), which power the system for up to 10 hours at maximum volume. There's no better way to share your favorite music outdoors.

The MiniBlaster G2 isn't built for big sound, but its pair of 40 mm Mylar cone drivers does the job, producing a frequency response of 450 Hz to 20 kHz. And even though it's designed for the iPod nano, it also offers a 3.5 mm auxiliary input for connecting to MP3 players, portable CD players, and other audio devices. The MiniBlaster2, which also comes in black and white, is backed by a one-year warranty.

What's in the Box
MiniBlaster G2, 6-volt power adapter, custom silicone skin, 3.5 mm stereo extension cable, user's manual.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Easy to use, great sound and perfect when snowboarding ...
I took the mini blaster on vacation to the beach and snowboarding. Made my trips much more enjoyable. The sound quality exceeded my expectations! After being impressed by this product I bought another product from JLab, the b-flex Laptop Speakers - USB, Portable, Compact, Travel Speaker for PC and Mac - B-Flex 2 Hi-Fi Stereo USB Speaker (Black) which I also really like. JLab is a great company. Highly recommend!

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - Disappointed
The speaker connection was all messed up, so it made a horrible skipping sound. Unfortunately I was unable to return it. Sad. Sound was kind of tinny, but I could have lived with that, I think.

One of the most unjustly underrated Italian operas receives a production that should help correct that attitude. Andrea Chenier is based on the true story of a poet who was caught up and destroyed by the blind fury of the French Revolution. Giordano's music captures the acrid flavor of that movement, the cynicism of some of its leaders, and Chenier's integrity and tragic fate. This production's value has probably increased since Plácido Domingo, the leading Chenier of his generation, has dropped the role from his repertoire.

All three principals sing eloquently and with a fine sense of the opera's structure and context. Anna Tomowa-Sintow is in even better voice than Domingo, and Giorgio Zancanaro heads an expert supporting cast. The Covent Garden Chorus, directed with distinction by Michael Hampe, gives a memorable impression of the revolutionary mob. Julius Rudel's conducting is totally idiomatic. --Joe McLellan

It would have been better, of course, if this 1984 production of Donizetti's Anna Bolena, or at least its title role, had been filmed 20 years earlier, when Joan Sutherland's voice was in its spectacular prime. But like her Canadian Opera Norma, dating from 1981, this is a better-late-than-never documentation of one of the most remarkable voices of the 20th century.

Lotfi Mansouri spared no effort or expense in making this production special. He personally directed the staging, and handpicked an outstanding cast (right down to the very young and then-unknown Ben Heppner in the small role of Hervey). The visual elements--sets, costumes, and camera work--are also handled with great care, and Sutherland's positive response to this dedication can be sensed in her performance as the unfortunate wife of King Henry VIII. James Morris is best-known as a Wagnerian singer--perhaps the leading Wotan of our time--but he is equally at home in many of the villainous roles that are the fate of bass- baritones (Iago, Scarpia, Don Giovanni). In this sinister tale of an innocent woman ruthlessly destroyed, he shows a surprising knack for the bel canto style. Judith Forst is also excellent in the role of Jane Seymour. --Joe McLellan
