* Sirius Satellite Radio rules ...
There are no substitutes for Howard 100, I just need the stock to go up!

2 Years and Strong
I purchased this tuner two years ago now when Howard was doing his 'sound check' before leaving terrestrial radio. It gets warm, but I've fallen asleep with it on God knows how many times with it still running and no problems yet. I keep this thing 'hard-wired'. Either into a Sony receiver via 1/8" to RCA or, 1/8" to cassette adapter. Even with the cassette adapter the sound is good. Actually excellent. I have no complaints except for the remote. The remote well is not that durable in a 'shop' environment, in a ziploc bag. The tuner buttons themselves have taken plenty of use however, and offer no problems. I have read lots of bad reviews on this tuner but mine is great. Just think every NFL game, NBA, NASCAR, and most importantly Howard Stern in crisp audio regular radio can't touch. Just hard wire it. It's not difficult these days. Drop $100 for a head unit with a 1/8" plug in, maybe $160 for those of you not mechanically inclined to have said head unit installed. It will be the best thing you ever do.

* Bad Unit!! ...
This is the 2nd one of these I have had, and the 2nd one my husband has had. The first two we got for X-Mas 2004 and were returning them both to JVC by Nov 2005. JVC gave us a horrible time, but since it was under warranty, they replaced both of them.
Now, tonight, my light sensor per JVC has gone out and they won't replace it. I can ship it to them and they will look at it for $65 and then diagnose it. Well.. the lady told me over the phone what the problem was. Then she said they will charge me to fix it, then ship it back.
WHAT??? I don't even know what to do. She suggested calling Circuit City or Best Buy for repair... both of them say NO WAY!!
Well....not such good luck.
When this unit works.. it is great... but we have had 4... and issues with all them..
Good luck!

Great when it works
Very convenient to move this unit between the car and the boombox. However the FM modulator would not work at all in our new 4Runner, even with a simple antenna added to it. We use a cassette adapter -- it degrades the sound quality somewhat. If we had it installed again, we'd buy and install the adapter needed to connect the FM modulator output to our FM radio's antenna cable.
The red display began to be intermittent before it was a year old, now it completely out (15 months old) and is going back to JVC. Hopefully they'll give us a refurbished unit in exchange.

* Not great ...
I've had this unit for a year and during that time, I've experienced the following:
-Hissing no matter which FM station is chosen
-Alert feature doesn't appear to work properly. Many times I am not alerted to the songs I have saved in my favorites. I'll turn the station and there's a song I have saved, but wasn't alerted.
-The lighted display crapped out this weekend. It's dark.
I am a Mom and don't ever remove this from my car. I rarely touch the unit and opt instead to use the remote. So the wear on it is minimal. It was a poor purchase at best.
