Product Review:The Jwin JV-TV2040 5.5-inch B/W Security Monitor with lnfrared Camera is a simple and reliable solution for most basic remote monitoring needs. The easy-to-install Jwin JV-TV2040 monitor comes complete with a Jwin JV-AC51 lR (infrared) camera with a 60-foot cable so you can install it almost anywhere. This system allows for both day and night viewing and includes A/V (audio/video) outputs for recording, making it perfect when low-cost 24-hour surveillance is required, and for monitoring rooms, entrances, or other areas in your home or business.
The JV-TV2040 has a low energy consumption and excellent stabilization, and features a two-channel A/V input (for use with two cameras) and a single-channel A/V simultaneous output. The black-and-white JV-AC51 camera delivers a decent resolution of 380 horizontal TVL (TV lines), and achieves a better than 48 dB S/N (signal-to-noise) ratio. Already highly sensitive to light with a minimum illumination of 0.5 Lux when viewing in regular mode, the JV-AC51 can receive a picture under no-light conditions thanks to six lR (infrared) LEDs (light-emitting diodes). The JV-TV2040 also features auto-switching between camera one and camera two, and two- to 20-seconds auto-switching delay times that can be set by the user. Compatible with the ElA (Electronics lndustries Association) TV system, the Jwin JV-TV2040 black-and-white monitor runs on 15-volt DC power via an included AC/DC adapter, and has an operating temperature of 14 to 122-degrees Fahrenheit.
Technical Features: - Signal compatibility: ElA TV system
- Light sensitivity: 0.5 Lux to infinity, 0 Lux in via lR LEDs
- Horizontal resolution: 380 TVL
- S/N ratio: better than 48 dB
- 0perating temperature: 14 to 122-degrees Fahrenheit
- Monitor dimensions: 8.19 x 7.56 x 6.02 inches (W x D x H)
Designed primarily for indoor use, the Jwin JV-TV2040 two-camera monitor deserves serious consideration as one of the most care-free and user-friendly monitoring solutions for small to medium scale surveillance applications. The Jwin JV-AC51 camera that comes with this system is easy to use and install, and includes a built-in microphone. User's should note that the image sensor may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.
About Surveillance Camera Technical Features Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's
resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The
S/N, or
signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes 'noise' which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide
dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present.
CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise.
CM0S (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.

* Low Price - High Quality ...
This system works great.
I know it says weatherproof, but some people think weatherproof means waterproof.
It is not the same.
Weatherproof and waterproof are two different things.
I have had my camera outside for a year.
It hangs under the eave of the garage and it has withstood 2 tropical storms and a multitude of rain storms.
I can see and hear everything.
I can even read the license plate numbers of my car without the outside porch light on.
By the way I bought another camera and put it on top of my house.
Waterproof?
No. I spent $1.08 to get a clear bird feeder that I turned into a camera housing.
That camera still works - 1 year and going strong.
Hope this helps.

one of My boys bought Me this and.........
This cam is [...]! IT CLAIMS TO BE "Weatherproof." in its add here and its NOT you can NOT have it outside, it says do not put in the rain, do NOT put in moist areas and do NOT put in sunlight, how the heck is THAT weatherproof???? oh AND the LED lights dont even work at all!! on the good side of things it works perfect in the day time, good clear picture, I don't know about sound cause after all I have to have it pointing out a INSIDE window to the outside so I dont have the sound on. I guess this is what you get for 50 bucks, a half way working cam that the ad lies!

* Works for us ...
We're using it for our kids room. We tried wireless monitors but we couldn't get any descent reception - probably due to the area where we live, midtown Manhattan.
This serves it's function. At night though we don't have much of picture since the camera is mounted all the way at the ceiling (11 feet from the floor) and we have blackout curtains, but we don't really need it and the sound without the static is enough for us. If you need the night vision then it probably would have to be mounted closer to the object.
