Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Excellent player for ipod hook-up ...
Got me an ipod, did'nt want the cheesy hook-up I had seen in other cars, had a Kenwood receiver already, figured WTF, It literally took me 20 minutes start to finish to pop out my old and slide in my new system. I bought the ipod direct cord and hid my ipod under the dash (after d-loading 1000 greatest hits. All the ipod conrols are now on my KDC-X791 better than I imagined, It took 4 months to go through 1000 songs, now I'm gonna change 'em out for another 1000 or so, The only downer with this radio is the super sensitive controls took a bit to get used to, other than that highly recommended!

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Very good USB Capability
From all the car cd players today, this is one of the best I found on that will serve person needs if you are thinking about adding hard drive to it. It sound quality is very good, there are some with better quality of sound, but nothing as this which gives so many different functions. This player displaces folder, album, files, type of file, plays more different formats than any other player I seen on the market. This player also has pause button, which is what I was looking for in the car audio. It has random and repeat button for just for a folder or all folders. Comparing this player to the alpine which I have one, this player is much better because of its functions. I have a 40G hard drive filled with music and it remembers exactly where it stopped playing the song. I would recommend this player to anyone who wants to move up into new civilization of mass storage media. One negative thing about this player is that its screen. The players screen is deep inside of the head unit which results in lack of view in the screen from the top view. Also under sun light it becomes impossible to read anything on the screen, but this happen with most any car audio players today.

Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.

November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.

Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.

The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.

Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.

The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.

The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.

One of the most unjustly underrated Italian operas receives a production that should help correct that attitude. Andrea Chenier is based on the true story of a poet who was caught up and destroyed by the blind fury of the French Revolution. Giordano's music captures the acrid flavor of that movement, the cynicism of some of its leaders, and Chenier's integrity and tragic fate. This production's value has probably increased since Plácido Domingo, the leading Chenier of his generation, has dropped the role from his repertoire.

All three principals sing eloquently and with a fine sense of the opera's structure and context. Anna Tomowa-Sintow is in even better voice than Domingo, and Giorgio Zancanaro heads an expert supporting cast. The Covent Garden Chorus, directed with distinction by Michael Hampe, gives a memorable impression of the revolutionary mob. Julius Rudel's conducting is totally idiomatic. --Joe McLellan

It would have been better, of course, if this 1984 production of Donizetti's Anna Bolena, or at least its title role, had been filmed 20 years earlier, when Joan Sutherland's voice was in its spectacular prime. But like her Canadian Opera Norma, dating from 1981, this is a better-late-than-never documentation of one of the most remarkable voices of the 20th century.

Lotfi Mansouri spared no effort or expense in making this production special. He personally directed the staging, and handpicked an outstanding cast (right down to the very young and then-unknown Ben Heppner in the small role of Hervey). The visual elements--sets, costumes, and camera work--are also handled with great care, and Sutherland's positive response to this dedication can be sensed in her performance as the unfortunate wife of King Henry VIII. James Morris is best-known as a Wagnerian singer--perhaps the leading Wotan of our time--but he is equally at home in many of the villainous roles that are the fate of bass- baritones (Iago, Scarpia, Don Giovanni). In this sinister tale of an innocent woman ruthlessly destroyed, he shows a surprising knack for the bel canto style. Judith Forst is also excellent in the role of Jane Seymour. --Joe McLellan
