Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * KITT = solid buy ...
the product works exactly as described and includes the wonderful voice of KITT. everything looks and works just fine. the only issue I have with it is the battery life - but that applies to any product like this.

OVERALL= great buy

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Knight Rider GPS Navigator
This is a great little navigator, especially for the price. Easy to read screen, simple instructions. I previously thought this might be a cheap product, but it has never led me astray and has always been very accurate. You can program it to address you, using a wide list of pre-entered names (although some I have never heard of) and the red scanner, which activates every time is speaks, is enjoyable eye-candy. The map is usable in either two- or three-dimension and gives plenty of detail for the surrounding area. I also like that it can display current time, time to destination, and vehicle speed. It can also be programmed to dim the screen automatically at night, a great feature which reduces distraction.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * No KITT navigation voice ...
The Mio Night Rider is very good GPS and has excellent features.
But I was somewhat disappointed with female voice during the turn by turn navigation. I thought the navigation voice would be the voice of KITT.

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - just ok
This has a nice look and cool gimmick with the KITT Voice from Knight Rider.

As a GPS system .... eh ... I'm not sure how often Maps are updated around the U.S. for GPS Systems or if they purposely send you a Old Map with your system so you will have to purchase a new Map right away!?
I live in the Knoxville Tn area and at least for me around here the System is missing a lot of existing streets that have been around for quite awhile now.

So most of the time when i'm driving around town to see how this thing works It will tell me that i'm not on a street ... to go to the nearest street.
Also when i put in a address to go somewhere across town... it tells me to turn right onto the Freeway ... which would usually be ok ... IF THERE WAS AN ENTRANCE to the Freeway at that spot!! .. It's a road that drives under the Freeway that is way above and there was never an entrance there before.

So I can't really trust this GPS System to give me correct or fast directions when it doesn't know when a road doesn't have an entrance to a interstate or doesn't even know that some roads exist ..

On the Mio website it says they are gonna give away free 2009 maps ... So i'll wait to see if that fixes the problems... If Not ... This was not worth the money ... So we will see

Also the way they have set up how you plug the System in your car when it is slid into the bracket is awful . The plug and cord is just fine when not in the bracket but when it is slid on it gets stopped by the way it is set up and I constantly have to be messing with it while driving ( which of course is dangerous ) and pushing it back in so it will charge.... It doesn't fall out but it gets jarred just enough by little bumps so the charge light will go off.

Another Update : After using this for awhile and testing it out everywhere I go , I am just really disappointed with this Item!
Like I said above , The KITT voice and the size of the screen are an awesome aspect to this system. But can't be trusted on directions as a gps system !!! Testing it out all over the city I live in I obviously know where I am going so it hasn't gotten me lost or anything. BUT when I type the address I want to go to it will start me off just fine and just when you think it is working out just great it will try to tell you to take a turn that is impossible unless your car can fly!!! For instance : I take an exit off the interstate , I go to the right off the exit , this is a one way street that loops around and merges into a main street that is of course not a one way anymore. The gps tells me to take sharp left as traffic is looping in the main street !! Heck Yeah .. that WOULD be the fastest route !! If humanly possible or legal. And like I stated above ... if my directions happen to cross paths with an interstate whether it has an entrance or not it will tell me to turn on it even if it's 500 feet above me!! I knew I should have bought that darn Helicopter !!

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * one cool GPS ...
My Knight Rider GPS arrived the other day (9/25), and I have to say it is everything I'd hoped for. From the way KITT's voice greets you on power up, to the LEDs flashing on the sides when it talks, just fits perfectly. While the voice sounds a tad bit drier than the original KITT, given the actor (William Daniels) has aged 20 years, it's not surprising it isnt perfectly identical - still sounds like KITT though, no question.

I like how the position on the map is indicated by a little graphical KITT, rather than your typical arrow or circle. Gives it that extra little awesomeness you'd want from a Knight Rider based GPS system. Everything else your average GPS has is part of this package, it even has some extra options like subscriptions to traffic cam alerts.

My only complaint is that the map scrolling via manual touch leaves a little to be desired - it is not as smooth or easy to use as my previous Mio product (Digiwalker 168), but it still works OK. It also has plenty of greeting names in the database to choose from, tho it may not have everything you'd want, supposedly you can update it with more later on. The GPS has internal memory as well as an SD expansion slot.

All in all this is a great product, and fits perfectly with my Firebird, which while white, still looks enough like classic KITT ;) ... maybe its time for a paintjob.

Joshua Logan's 1967 film of the hit Broadway musical about the love triangle between King Arthur (Richard Harris), Guenevere (Vanessa Redgrave), and Sir Lancelot (Franco Nero) is strong on star emphasis and weak on such fundamentals as story and sets. Except for a handful of solidly dramatic scenes--such as Guenevere grieving, late in the film, for the ruination she and Lancelot have caused--there's not a lot to get excited about. (The story's theme of a lost, great society, however, certainly struck a chord in the 1960s.) The Lerner-Loewe songs ("If Ever I Would Leave You," "Camelot") pretty much sell themselves, even if they are, at best, only proficiently performed in this movie. --Tom Keogh

"The book was better" has been the complaint of many a reader since the invention of movies. Frank Darabont's second adaptation of a Stephen King prison drama (The Shawshank Redemption was the first) is a very faithful adaptation of King's serial novel. In the middle of the Depression, Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) runs death row at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. Into this dreary world walks a mammoth prisoner, John Coffey (Michael Duncan) who, very slowly, reveals a special gift that will change the men working and dying (in the electric chair, masterfully and grippingly staged) on the mile . As with King's book, Darabont takes plenty of time to show us Edgecomb's world before delving into John Coffey's mystery. With Darabont's superior storytelling abilities, his touch for perfect casting, and a leisurely 188-minute running time, his movie brings to life nearly every character and scene from the novel. Darabont even improves the novel's two endings, creating a more emotionally satisfying experience. The running time may try patience, but those who want a story, as opposed to quick-fix entertainment, will be rewarded by this finely tailored tale. --Doug Thomas

On the DVD

Listen to our interview with Frank Darabont.
Anyone who has seen this Oscar-nominated film knows Frank Darabont likes to t-a-k-e h-i-s t-i-m-e. He certainly does the same in filling all three hours of his commentary track which he recorded over several sessions. Darabont has studied other DVDs and purposely does not repeat tidbits covered in the excellent new 90-minute documentary on author Stephen King and the making of the film. Other solid segments are two deleted scenes, a never-used teaser trailer, and Michael Duncan Clarke's screen test. The highlight is two remarkable tests of Tom Hanks in old-age makeup. Both are very credible, but it was decided to use another actor. The outcome is a DVD that puts the "special" back into the special edition. --Doug Thomas

When Roman tribune Marcellus Gallio (Richard Burton) is sent to Jerusalem, one of his assignments is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Marcellus, a cynical and hardened man, wins the robe Jesus wore to the crucifixion while gambling with other Roman soldiers underneath the dying savior. He later becomes convinced that his hallucinations and violent outbursts are the result of a curse received from the robe, which is now in the possession of his escaped slave, Demetrius (Victor Mature), somewhere in the Middle East. He sets out to find Demetrius in order to destroy the robe and the curse and finds faith instead, converting to Christianity. This was the first movie to be filmed in CinemaScope, and won Oscars in 1953 for costume design, art direction, and set decoration. The visual aspects of the film are stunning, and it may be worth viewing for that alone; however, the script and acting leave much to be desired, and you won't find inspiration in these areas if that's what interests you. If, however, you are more interested in this film for its religious matter, the story of the conversion of the hardened Marcellus is inspiring. --James McGrath
