HDTV DLP 1080p 57-Inch WD-57734 Mitsubishi

0ur opinion:

:
Mitsubishi 57' 1080p DLP® HDTV - Medallion Series

:
The WD-57734 is a large 57-inch DLP (Digital Light Processing) rear-projection HDTV from Mitsubishi that incorporates the latest technologies for an accurate picture that is perfect for a large home theater system.

Giant Performance, Small Footprint
Because the latest Texas lnstruments 1080P DLP chip is inside, this television yields the full 1920 x 1080 high-definition resolution with progressive scan, the highest quality HDTV standard today. With a television this size, offering more than two million pixels is important to prevent visible pixelation.

The WD-57734 supports the x.v.Color standard for 80 percent more color than standard HDTV. View larger. View back panel.

Despite the large screen size, the WD-57734 weighs just 62.4 pounds and is only 14 inches deep. View larger.
The television can display any video signal that is connected to it. When a 1080p signal is the input, it passes through with no down conversion: The 1080p signal is maintained from beginning to end, giving the best picture quality. When a lower resolution is detected, whether it is 720p HD or a DVD, the signal is automatically scaled to display at 1080p, with minimal side effects and a very detailed picture.

The screen is big and the technologies are many, but the unit itself weighs just 62.4 pounds and is only 14 inches deep, which means it will fit into many decors.

More Color
The WD-57734 incorporates a slew of new technologies that combine to give this television the most realistic color reproduction available on the market today. The new x.v.Color standard is supported, which dramatically increases the color space available, with 80 percent more color than standard HDTV.

The WD-57734 also supports Deep Color, a new standard that incorporates 10-bit color depth, versus the previous 8-bit color depth. With Deep Color, shaded images show less banding and greater contrast.

Coupled with this technology is Mitsubishi's exclusive 6-Color Light Engine, which uses six primary colors instead of the traditional three to create more colors. Mitsubishi's Color 4D Noise Reduction, PerfectColor, and PerfectTint yield a wider color palette and the ability to fine tune the set to your exact preferences. The end result is a brighter, smoother, and more realistic picture than ever before.

Connections Galore
You don't need to worry about running out of connections with the WD-57734. lt has a total of four HDMl 1.3 inputs with Simplay HD certification, three in the rear and one in the front, so you can connect your Blu-Ray player, HD DVD player, and still have two inputs left over. lt also has three component video inputs (two rear, one front), a front USB connection so you can display up to five-megapixel photographs, and two A/V inputs with S-Video. lt has a Dolby Digital/PCM output and an analog stereo output. Mitsubishi's NetCommand enables the included partially illuminated remote to control an entire home theater system.

The WD-57734 is backed by a limited 1-year warranty.

What's in the Box

Testimonials

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - *
I love this TV. HD is sharp and vivid. The colors are amazing. Its very light weight despite the size. I was so surprised that I could pick this up by myself. I have 2 minor complaints

* it could use a few more HDMI inputs
* included universal remote doesn't have code scan so if its not in the code book your stuck. (I purchased Logitech Harmony remote)

These are minor complaints though. This is an amazing TV.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - The way TV is SUPPOSED to look.
Checked out too many systems to count. Settled on DLP because it made sense. Unit arrived 1 week early (Electronics Expo is great.) Unpacked it, plugged it in, connected the cable, & it has been flawless. People are actually STUNNED when they see the screen. Worth alot more than the $1400 I paid. If you're looking for a 57" system, don't even bother checking the others out.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - *
Excellent bright HD picture. I chose a DLP because it was to be installed in and entertainment center so depth was of no concern. Also, a larger DLP unit can fit into same space as a smaller LCD since there is less framework around the screen. I was able to fit a 57" DLP into the space where a 52" LCD would fit.

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - Mitsubishi Scraping the Bottom!
Mitsubishi was once a premium line for large screen products. Their quality and customer service have hit rock bottom. The quality is questionable and its doubtful that their products produce the 1080p image that they claim. Buyer beware. They have lost my loyalty and my business. There are too many other high quality offerings to choose from such as Sony, Samsung and Sharp. Don't be taken by Mitsubishi. You've been warned.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - *
I just recently purchased this set after wading through every televison set on the market. LCDs, Plasma, all major brands, etc. etc. I finally choose the Mitsubishi. It has great color, depth, and clarity. I have it hooked up to my Bose system, HDTV cable box, and a Wii gaming console. All the attached components look and sound awesome. Combined with a Harmony remote to control all those components makes it much easier to control. 1080i looks awesome and Blue Ray just blows me away. The upconversion, or "plush", does a great job of boosting the lower resolutions up to 1080. This set is definitely not lackinig in inputs. There are four HDMI (3 rear and 1 front), 3 component (2 rear, 1 front), s-video, optical audio, computer connection, etc. It automatically recognizes when in input is connected! Input customization is also available. An IR controller gadget called Net Command is also included which lets you control your older audi or video components with the Mitsubishi remote. Awesome video and audio, inputs galore, external device control, what more can you ask for in a television set. If it could fetch me a beer I would be in heaven. Enjoy!

This 44-minute musical Christmas movie finds Pooh, Tigger, Darby, and the rest of everyone's favorite characters from the Hundred Acre Wood enjoying a busy Christmas Eve filled with Christmas preparations and dreams about what they hope to receive from Santa. When Roo and Lumpy discover a fancy red bag in the snow and then stumble upon a young reindeer named Holly caught in a thicket, they find out that the bag they've found is Santa's magical toy sack and that without it, Santa may have to cancel Christmas. When Holly is unable to remember which direction leads home, Roo and Lumpy sound the super sleuth siren and the whole gang sets off for the North Pole to return Santa's bag. Using their knowledge of the North Star to guide them, the hopeful group makes their way toward the North Pole, but finds the road difficult and full of danger. Can the group make it to Santa in time to save Christmas by working together? Will their individual Christmas wishes ever come true? Bonus features include two episodes about friendship and teamwork ("Symphony for Rabbit" and "Tigger Goes Snowflakey") and the "Hundred Acre Wood Downhill Game" in which players pretend to ski down a hill and then interactively match presents with their intended recipients. Pooh Bear and his pals in the Hundred Acre Wood celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve in a pair of adventures folded into this 65-minute made-for-video feature. In the first, the silly old bear plays Saint Nick to his buddies ("I always thought he'd be taller") after failing to get an errant wish list off to Santa, while identity crisis strikes the gang in the second half. Piglet inherits Tigger's hop and jumps like a pogo stick, and Eeyore (dressed in Pooh's shirt) becomes a happy-go-lucky honey lover. Welcome to The Twilight Zone according to Winnie the Pooh. There's not much A.A. Milne in this TV-style holiday special, but it's a bouncy little production that should entertain the wee ones with its warm fuzzies, good company, slapstick energy, and life lessons. --Sean Axmaker
