With a range of up to 12 miles and loaded with features, you know that with the SX700R you are ready for the extreme outdoors. Lightweight and rugged, with side grips to help you hold on, and a holster to provide you with quick access, the SX700 is built to handle virtually any challenge without weighing you down. Acting as a speakerphone, the iV0X hands free communication allows you to use your hands for other activities while keeping in touch. Tune into a N0AA channel (National 0ceanic and Atmospheric Administration) on your SX700 for continuous local and regional weather broadcasting. And when you are out having fun, weather alerts will provide you with warnings of incoming weather to protect from the dangers of a sudden storm. To prevent cluttered channels, the SX700 has a full 22-channel capacity each with 121 privacy codes, creating 2,662 combinations. Additionally, Priority scan quickly finds the most private channel in crowded environments, and with the QT (Quiet Talk) interruption filter enabled, radios from other manufacturers can't be heard on your channel ensuring a private conversation for your group. The SX700 also has a Motorola exclusive feature ??companding?? a sophisticated digital technology that filters out static between words. :
Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who often get separated from their groups, such as mountain bikers, serious hikers, and whitewater rafters, this pair of Motorola rechargeable two-way radios keeps you connected from up to 12 miles away (based on terrain and conditions). The wide-ranging signal also works for more pedestrian tasks, such as keeping tabs on the kids while they're playing at a friend's house or calling your pals in the lodge while you're skiing on the slopes. Each radio comes equipped with 22 channels--including eight GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service), seven FRS (Family Radio Service), and seven GMRS/FRS combo channels--giving you plenty of frequencies on which to communicate. The radios also receive a National 0ceanic and Atmospheric Administration channel, which delivers up-to-the-minute storm warnings--a must for mountain climbers. And thanks to the rugged housing, convenient side grips, and included holsters, you'll enjoy quick, constant access to the radios in the midst of almost any activity.

To ensure that your conversation is always between you and your mates, Motorola included 121 privacy codes, which, when added to the 22 channels, gives you 2,662 options for exclusivity. The Priority Scan function lends a hand by searching for the most private channels in crowded environments, as does the Quiet Talk feature, which filters the signals from other radios to ensure an interruption-free conversation. And unlike the walkie-talkies of old, the Talkabout's signal is always strong, employing a Motorola-exclusive digital technology to filter out the static between words. This allows the radio to deliver noticeably clearer transmissions. 0ther bonuses include 10 distinct call tones, so your group can identify who's calling at a given time, along with a talk confirmation tone that lets others know when you've finished talking.

All Motorola two-way radios are also designed with compatibility in mind. The radios can communicate with other Talkabout models when set to the same channel/code sequence, or with competitors' products provided the channel and code sequences are compatible. Additional features include a backlit LED display that's easy to read even in dark environments, an audible low battery alert and battery meter, a keypad lock, and a VibraCall vibrating alert.

The SX700R radios come ready for recharging, with a pair of Motorola NiMH battery packs and a dual desktop charger. The battery packs offer approximately 7 hours of two-way use per charge. As an alternative, users can pop in a quartet of AAA alkaline (high capacity) batteries.

Note:
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that operators on General Mobile Service (GMRS) and Private Land Mobile (PLM) frequencies obtain an FCC license prior to use. To learn more, please visit the FCC web site.

Testimonials

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Mighty Motorola! ...
I'm captain of a local paintball team in Portland, OR called The 143rd SOG and we have ten of these Motorola SX700R 2-way radios. They are the best I've ever used. Very sturdy and clear communication. They come with plenty of options and dont weigh a ton. I would recommend these to anyone.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Can't complain but will
These are great radio's. I hate mine because it will not die. I work in an industrial plant and we use these to communicate across the plant. So mine gets quite a bit of abuse because I wear it around my neck. I have had this radio apart several times to get metal off the speaker, resolder the antenna on, resolder the battery terminal on the board, I have even hit the face of the display and PC board inside while apart with a 32oz ball pein hammer trying to put my radio out of service. TWICE!! The display still works, the radio is still fully functional. Only thing is the radio is going to outlast the batteries I have for it.
My main reason for not liking this radio is that I wear it around my neck and although it is one of the smaller radio's there are it is a little bulky around the neck for 8-12hrs. I am looking at another set of motorola's that are just a tad bit smaller like my co-worker has.
I don't see how you can go wrong with these radio's in even a harsh enviroment like I put them in. They would probably last forever in a regular use situation.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * Talkabout radios ...
I was happy with the prompt mailing and of the quality of radios that were delivered.
I would use this vendor again

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Walkie talkie
These are great, have used them for a year now and no problems....in fact I bought another pair for a friend for Christmas this year. We use them while going to and from car shows and cruise inns to communicate, we are seldom more than a mile apart and have saved a lot of trouble by being able to talk to each other

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Paintball: Works well in the woods ...
I bought the Talkabout SX700R to use for scenario paintball and the SPPL, and I have been pleased with it. I carry it on my (on-gun) tank so I can use it while aiming. It is easy to push the buttons with gloves on, I can hear what everyone is saying (as long as I don't put it in my pants pocket) and I can quickly and easily turn the volume up and down. Plus, I can set it to vibrate when I get a call, so I can turn off the alert. The field I usually play is about 400 acres, laid out long and narrow. I can easily get a hold of teammates that are 1/4 mile away from me through the trees. I haven't had to try it much further than that. I never have break-up when people talk, though if they aren't holding thier radios correctly they can be hard to understand. The radio is sealed well. It has been shot, dropped on the ground, dropped in mud, etc. and always works. The clips are kind of junk, though. I broke one already.

All in all, I can recommend this radio for paintball.

Usually we're fans of Logitech's gaming mice, but its highest-end G9 Laser Mouse is expensive, overly complex, and lacks the ergonomic thought we've come to expect. If you like to brag about dot-per-inch limits, perhaps the G9's 3,200dpi laser will be enough to sell you, but for the price, we expect the design to match.

Small and light enough for a shirt pocket, Samsung's Helix YX-M1 is a one-stop audio entertainment center with an XM radio, a digital music player, and room for 50 hours of tunes, but it comes up short on battery life.

There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. Oddly, the film's initial soundtrack release may have been the project's most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects much of that oversight, offering original film versions of "Sparkling Diamonds" (the lavish, Nicole Kidman-performed medley of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl"), Jim Broadbent's and Richard Roxburgh's loopy take on "Like a Virgin," as well as the lively Offenbach "Can Can" parody "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)." It also pays homage to the efforts of composer Craig Armstrong, whose quietly compelling underscore often binds the film's other far-flung musical influences together, be they stately orchestral readings of Elton John's "Your Song," a dramatic arrangement for Kidman and Ewan MacGregor's original film duet of "Come What May," or his dark, melodramatic take on Queen's "The Show Must Go On." The first Moulin Rouge soundtrack collection flaunted the film's bold, cross-genre ambitions; this one chronicles its nakedly emotional heart and soul. --Jerry McCulley

It would be easy to dismiss Kelly Osbourne's musical ambitions based on 1) Her royally obnoxious behavior on the family's MTV reality series, 2) Her overly manufactured debut album, Shut Up, and 3) That voice, which up until now, sounded like cats on a chalkboard. But spare a moment for the bratty singer's follow-up effort, a remarkably faithful new-wave throwback, which generously references everyone from Duran Duran to Missing Persons. Producer Linda Perry not only effectively revives the dramatic sounds and melodies of the era but offers songs that perfectly suit Osbourne's, er, constrained vocal range. The resulting disc is full of guilty pleasures like "Uh Oh" and "Redlight," tunes that should strike a chord with anyone that still gets a thrill out of happening upon basic cable reruns of "Sixteen Candles." --Aidin Vaziri
