Testimonials

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Terrible! ...
I bought this phone in hopes all the other reviews on this page were wrong, however this phone is just cheesy! It is terrible sound quality and is made very poorly, I was expecting something more well put together, I decided to send it back! Also you cant chat like Text other skype users, kind of disappointed in that.

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - Great Concept, Poor Execution
The concept of a WIFI phone that has a Skype client was appealing to me, especially since I've eliminated my land line at home. But even on my home WIFI with a 6MBPS DSL connection, with a pegged-out WIFI signal, the audio quality on both my end and the other end were HORRIBLE! It was much worse than using my mobile phone. Specifically, both received and sent sounds were broken up or garbled. I tested it with seven different callers, including land lines and mobile. At no point was the voice quality what I would consider even useable.

Oh, and the battery would heat up during calls, to the degree of being nearly painful.

We had purchased two of these phones as test units with the thought that they might offer an alternative to expensive overseas mobile calls when our executives travel, but our experience with them was so poor that we returned them to Amazon. Truly a poorly executed product in its current form. I'm hoping that Netgear or some other company can produce a viable WIFI Skype phone in the future, but based upon the lack of new products in this arena, I'm not counting on it since this generation of WIFI phones have been around for more than a year.

Better luck next time.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * netgear wireless skype phone ...
Got this product and quickly set it up. Setup straightforward and
simple. It immediately picked up my restricted network in the house and gave me the opportunity to enter information. I didn't need instructions for any of this as the onscreen was very clear. The listening quality was quite good. I have had good reports on the transmission quality also. So, in spite of some of the comments, this phone has been great for me, at least in the short term. I do agree with the comments about the buttons being small but I find that a problem with cellphones also. I would recommend this.

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - Close but not there yet
Amazon had the best price made better with free shipping. Nice compact unit, relatively easy to get up and running. It was slow to connect. Sound quality, in and out, was good, PROVIDING, and this is where I had a problem, providing you were in a very strong signal area. The fact was I could not use it at one end of my home without hanging my router up high on a wall and then the sound quality was still poor ( echo, etc )
This phone could be great if you are in a strong signal area.
Nokia HS-47 headset works fine with it.

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - * Not as good as the IPEVO phones ...
I had used Netgear modems and was relying on the name for quality. For this particular product, I was disappointed.
Call quality:
For one thing, Skype is not good with wireless. This is true of all wireless phones, so I can't blame Netgear in particular: there are just a lot of dropped calls (and I mean, a LOT), and there is definitely a lot of static on the line, so "Can you hear me?" will become your new speech tick.
Battery life:
This proved to be an issue using the phone for the office. We don't want to be tied to the computer, but I don't want to NOT be able to answer the phone because the phone is recharging. For this, I give Netgear super low marks. They should've known better.
Usability:
I guess it's OK. The look and feel of the device is very plastic/gimicky, and the size is relatively small. This was a minor issue to dial numbers, as my fingers are much larger than those of a teenage girl. I hate pressing buttons with the very tip of my fingers, which I had to do.
Overall:
Very disappointing.

Alternative:
I've been using the IPEVO Desktop phone for the office, which also has the bonus of having a speaker option. Sound quality is premium because it's not wireless, but you don't have to tie it to a computer; you hook it up to the internet line. For travel, I now use the FR33.2 phones (which I have given my road warriors), which has the best voice quality of all, plus portability. But it's USB, so you have to hook it up.
