Beautiful Design and Easy Setup
The WGR614 is a very attractive unit about the size of a small paperback with a silver exterior and rounded edges. An included plastic stand lets you stand the router on its edge to take up less space.

The WGR614 makes it easy for even a novice to set up a wireless network: just plug the included Ethernet cable from your internet connection into the router and insert the included CD into any computer on the network, which will provide step-by-step instructions. The WGR614 employs a web-based interface for configuration, and the router will automatically do the initial setup by getting your DNS settings and determining your lP address. The firmware is also upgradeable via the web interface so you can be sure your router will always be up-to-date.

Fast and Secure
Supporting the 802.11g standard, the NETGEAR WGR614 offers wireless data speeds of up to 54 Mbps, making it possible to share a broadband internet connection, stream music without hiccups, watch videos with less load time, and videoconference without problems. Downloading files is up to five times faster than it was with 802.11b. lf you still have computers that use 802.11b, don't fret as the router is backwards compatible with the older wireless standard and can be set so all your computers can connect to the network and the WGR614 will automatically figure out the connection type and work accordingly.

ln addition to wireless access, there are four 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 Ethernet ports in the back for connecting computers to the network via a faster, wired connection.

The WGR614 offers many security options to ensure your data is private. Double firewall protection keeps your network shielded from outside attacks. To ensure the security of your wireless data, both 40/64-bit, 128-bit, and 152-bit (802.11g only) WEP encryption is available, as well as WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access). I would say this is probably the worst router I have ever owned. When I left college and moved to a new apartment I picked this up for my new home wireless network. To follow with most of the other 1 star reviews, it consistently just stops broadcasting. The lights stay on and blink and show as if it is working, but the only way to get it going again is to just reset the thing by pulling the power out and plugging it back in.

On another token, I have DSL as cable is not available in my area. It took me HOURS to get this router to work properly in conjunction with my DSL modem. The directions included with the router did not end up working easily, so I had to take several additional steps which I managed to find online using my Mobile Broadband Card as secondary internet connection.


All in all I would say this is an awful investment. Get another router at any cost.

Navigation and Entertainment with Ease

At 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87-inches (WxHxD) and just 5.1 ounces, the unit is small enough to be placed on the dashboard with the included suction mount, or into your pocket for easy transportability. The unit also features Garmin Lock -- an advanced anti-theft feature that disables the unit from performing any functions until you type in a specific four-digit PIN or take the unit to a predetermined location. There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. It would be easy to dismiss Kelly Osbourne's musical ambitions based on 1) Her royally obnoxious behavior on the family's MTV reality series, 2) Her overly manufactured debut album, Shut Up, and 3) That voice, which up until now, sounded like cats on a chalkboard. But spare a moment for the bratty singer's follow-up effort, a remarkably faithful new-wave throwback, which generously references everyone from Duran Duran to Missing Persons. Producer Linda Perry not only effectively revives the dramatic sounds and melodies of the era but offers songs that perfectly suit Osbourne's, er, constrained vocal range. The resulting disc is full of guilty pleasures like "Uh Oh" and "Redlight," tunes that should strike a chord with anyone that still gets a thrill out of happening upon basic cable reruns of "Sixteen Candles." --Aidin Vaziri
