* Not if you have a Macintosh ...
The quality of the recorder is fair, but not great. Transfer speed/quality is okay. Will not recognize Mac OS 10, so I have to switch my Mac to Windows mode, download the files and then switch back. The Mac has no problem playing the downloaded files.

Great little recorder
Nice product. I had to record some tapes onto an electronic format and the sound quality was excellent. The battery life is also very good and it takes 2 AAA batteries which allows for long recording times. It is quite simple to use and download to the computer as well.

* Capture sound and keep it in your pocket. ...
The Olympus VN-4100PC Digital Anything-That-Makes-Noise Recorder was a fantastic buy for yours-truly. It records clearly and crisply, and has more settings than you'd ever really need to optimize sounds for any occasion (Set to mic sensitivity to Low for loud areas, Hi for quiet). It has 4 digital folders that you can switch on the fly for storing info on different subjects. Easy operation, large speaker for playback away from your PC as well as Headphone and Mic jacks for private listening and stealthy recording. Available lanyard attachment and nifty pouch make it even more portable. Overall I give it Seven thumbs up (out of a possible seven).

* Meeting Minutes and College Master Program ...
I got two of these (there were accidentally 2 in my cart, so I decided to give one as a gift to my niece for her Master's Program). I wasn't planning to use it at the first meeting after I received it, but someone at the meeting said she wished the proceedings were being recorded for someone not in attendance. Without having made time to read the instructions, I pressed record. I worked just fine. It didn't put the recording in folder A, but in folder B. There was an glitch in reviewing the PC downloaded version of file and I had to backtrack by reloading the software. But after that, I could stop, pause, rewind as much as I wanted to get the minutes done. Great product for the money. Nice clarity. Only one person in the meeting who spoke softly was difficult to hear in the recording.
