Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - * Feedback ...
The Bluetooth adapter works well. It seems to pick up my phone as soon as I get in the truck. The only draw back is that it doesn't pass to the headunit when I get text messages which would be nice.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Better than Expected
Was worried about echoing from previous reviews.
I have the blue tooth mounted behind the dash, and the mic mounted on the upper left driver's side windshield. No echoing has been noticed at all by anyone.
The product was easy to sync, I have to motorrola phones that worked without a hitch, even dialing from the handset works well.

Great product

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Seamless integration at it's finest. I wish I didn't wait so long to pony up. ...
I waited a full year to buy this add-on for my AVIC-Z1 mainly because I didn't think it would be worth the hundred dollars. Now that they've become a little less hard to find and resellers aren't gouging people for them anymore I picked one up, and all I can say is I wish I'd have done it sooner.

Installation:
Probably the easiest install I've done in my car yet. Simply plug one end straight into the dedicated port on the back of the AVIC-z1 and use the included velcro to stash the receiver end anywhere you want. The cable is a good 6 feet so you can run it pretty much anywhere in your car. I decided to place my receiver under the center console by the parking brake; figured it would be equidistant from anyone else in the car who might want to pair their phone, plus it's only a foot or two from my left pocket (where I keep my cell) for a good, solid connection.

Pairing:
Also extremely simple. When you enter the pairing screen on the Z1, you can choose to have the z1 search for your phone, or let your phone search for the z1. Once paired, it's entirely automatic: Get in the car and (after the z1 has booted) you'll see "[your phone] is connected" flash across teh bottom, as well as a constant, small phone icon in the upper-right corner of the map screen.

You can pair multiple phones too, but of course only one can be connected at a time. Let's say you and your Significant Other both have their phones setup, the unit will connect to whichever phone it finds first. If you want to switch to a different phone, enter the phone setup menu to select from a list of phoned you've previously to connect to instead. Couldn't be easier.

Usage:
The first thing I did after pairing my phone was try to send my address book. The BT1 is able to receive single contacts or an entire address book all at once; whether or not you can send the whole address book all at once is up to your phone's capabilities. My Razr v3 is only able to send individual contacts. Still, it doesn't take long to push over at least the important people in your address book.

In addition to the address book (which you can use to make calls) there's a speed-dial (called favorites), and an on-screen dialer, call histories, and additional setup tools.

While driving, it's true that many of the controls are locked out (unless you activate the Z1's marine mode), but you can still make speed-dial calls and receive calls. When a calls come in, the music quiets down (or mutes, depending on a user-configurable setting) and the screen displays the caller ID. You can choose to accept or reject the call on screen. And of course, if you need to dial out to somone not in your favorites, your cell itself is still fully operational; all activity on the phone is automatically sent through the BT1.

All in all:

I'm awed at how simple it is, how good it works, and how much easier it's made dealing with a cell while driving. So simple in fact that I don't ever even take my cell out of my pocket when in the car. Seamless integration at it's finest. Another MUST HAVE if you own an AVIC-Z1! Great job, Pioneer!!

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - Simple installation and reasonable sound quality.
The installation is simply a matter of plugging the unit in and finding a place to put the unit which is smaller than a deck of playing cards.
If your car isn't very quiet, I doubt that you would be able to use the unit while you are driving. Of course the AVIC-Z1 cripples the capabilities of the unit by keeping you from using most of the features (like dialing) unless the parking brake is set. You can still dial from the keypad on your phone, but if you carry a Motorola Q, this is not an easy task sitting still.

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - * Pioneer AVIC-Z1 Bluetooth Adapter ...
Unit is eazy to link up and receives well. Complaints from people I am speaking to about hearing there own voice. E-Mailed pioneer about this problem with no responce.
