Testimonials

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Fine Sound ...
I am not an audio expert, but I am extremely pleased with the Polk RTi4 high performance bookshelf speakers. They came promptly and had excellent packaging. I actually got them to improve on the sound coming from my Sony TV. There is a dramatic improvement. I am using a high end amplifier with no surround sound. The voices are very clear and the music is excellent. There is adequate base for me but some might want a separate subwoofer. The highs are very clean, nice for classical and casual music. I recommend them highly.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - Polk Audio RTi4 purchase experience
My order was delivered as promised. I am very satisfied with the whole process, from purchase - delivery and the quality of the product I purchased was perfect. Brand New POLK AUDIO RTi4

Excellent sorround speaker!

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Small but Good ...
I listened to these speakers at a store before buying them online. They don't quite have the full sound of a good floor standing speaker, but are very close in quality to my Infinity SM85s, which are excellent. Put a subwoofer with these and they are outstanding. If I had to, I could get by w/ out the woofer. I listened to quite a few bookshelf speakers and this was the best.

Polk Audio RTi4 High Performance Bookshelf/On-Wall Speakers, Pair (Black Oak) (Purchased on 11/18/2007)

Great speakers, don't need a woofer. Sounds good just as they come. Just the right size and performs like the big ones.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * great speakers ...
I bought these speakers for my dorm room. I have them running through the basic sony amplifier/ reciever (STR-DE197) I play all my music through itunes on my computer. These speakers get very loud and the clearity is unbelievable. I have only used computer speakers before, but I decided to upgrade to a stereo now that I live in my frat house. These speakers are loud and clear, but lack bass, which I guess is expected for their size. They trully sound great though and my old computer speakers have a serious sub and I have that hooked up with these to suplement. The bass is still tight its just not room thumping. I would highly recomend these though even if they are by themselves. Just remember great sound not a lot of bass.

Joshua Logan's 1967 film of the hit Broadway musical about the love triangle between King Arthur (Richard Harris), Guenevere (Vanessa Redgrave), and Sir Lancelot (Franco Nero) is strong on star emphasis and weak on such fundamentals as story and sets. Except for a handful of solidly dramatic scenes--such as Guenevere grieving, late in the film, for the ruination she and Lancelot have caused--there's not a lot to get excited about. (The story's theme of a lost, great society, however, certainly struck a chord in the 1960s.) The Lerner-Loewe songs ("If Ever I Would Leave You," "Camelot") pretty much sell themselves, even if they are, at best, only proficiently performed in this movie. --Tom Keogh

"The book was better" has been the complaint of many a reader since the invention of movies. Frank Darabont's second adaptation of a Stephen King prison drama (The Shawshank Redemption was the first) is a very faithful adaptation of King's serial novel. In the middle of the Depression, Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) runs death row at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. Into this dreary world walks a mammoth prisoner, John Coffey (Michael Duncan) who, very slowly, reveals a special gift that will change the men working and dying (in the electric chair, masterfully and grippingly staged) on the mile . As with King's book, Darabont takes plenty of time to show us Edgecomb's world before delving into John Coffey's mystery. With Darabont's superior storytelling abilities, his touch for perfect casting, and a leisurely 188-minute running time, his movie brings to life nearly every character and scene from the novel. Darabont even improves the novel's two endings, creating a more emotionally satisfying experience. The running time may try patience, but those who want a story, as opposed to quick-fix entertainment, will be rewarded by this finely tailored tale. --Doug Thomas

On the DVD

Listen to our interview with Frank Darabont.
Anyone who has seen this Oscar-nominated film knows Frank Darabont likes to t-a-k-e h-i-s t-i-m-e. He certainly does the same in filling all three hours of his commentary track which he recorded over several sessions. Darabont has studied other DVDs and purposely does not repeat tidbits covered in the excellent new 90-minute documentary on author Stephen King and the making of the film. Other solid segments are two deleted scenes, a never-used teaser trailer, and Michael Duncan Clarke's screen test. The highlight is two remarkable tests of Tom Hanks in old-age makeup. Both are very credible, but it was decided to use another actor. The outcome is a DVD that puts the "special" back into the special edition. --Doug Thomas

When Roman tribune Marcellus Gallio (Richard Burton) is sent to Jerusalem, one of his assignments is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Marcellus, a cynical and hardened man, wins the robe Jesus wore to the crucifixion while gambling with other Roman soldiers underneath the dying savior. He later becomes convinced that his hallucinations and violent outbursts are the result of a curse received from the robe, which is now in the possession of his escaped slave, Demetrius (Victor Mature), somewhere in the Middle East. He sets out to find Demetrius in order to destroy the robe and the curse and finds faith instead, converting to Christianity. This was the first movie to be filmed in CinemaScope, and won Oscars in 1953 for costume design, art direction, and set decoration. The visual aspects of the film are stunning, and it may be worth viewing for that alone; however, the script and acting leave much to be desired, and you won't find inspiration in these areas if that's what interests you. If, however, you are more interested in this film for its religious matter, the story of the conversion of the hardened Marcellus is inspiring. --James McGrath
