* fantastic, once I got AUX mode to show up. ...
I bought this for the Alpine CDA-9826 so I could input music from an ipod. I used instructions (and the additional peripherals) I found listed here: [...] The instructions, and a little bit of work, got me hooked up but when I went to play the music, I found that AUX mode wasn't available.
I had read some places that AUX is disabled on my stereo, and there was nothing I could do, but I soon found a copy of a manual for CDA-9827, and CDA 9825 on the internet, and it just happened to have the information available to enable AUX mode on my model. It worked and sounded great. MP3's actually sound better through the iPod than playing off of an MP3 CD.
The forum I linked to above gave instructions and listed peripherals that enabled me to plug into my ipod through the dock connector(really check it out, it has some great information). Using the dock connector rather than the headphones jack is advantageous, because volume is controlled is solely by the stereo, and not effected by the ipods volume controls, so I'm not adjusting the volume on both of them trying to find the sweet spot. Again to be clear, the product listed here won't enable you to plug into the dock connector by itself. You have to buy other peripherals.
In summary, it takes a little work, but it's well worth it.

Works
I bought this to hook up my iPod to my Alpine car stereo. It works great. I had a little problem with the sound at first because I forced it in the wrong way. After I turned it around I got sound. but the problem I am having is because I had to tape the connector at a certain angle to get continuous full sound. Now the reason I still give this 5 stars is because I don't think it is the wire but my stereo that has a bad connection. (My stereo went through a car accident in my friend's old car.) I bought the wire form here because it costs $30.00 at Best Buy, and I would rather wait 4 days then spend almost double on something like this.
The bottom line is the cable works the way I wanted it to.

* Cheaper than Alpine ...
Not much to say about this. It does the same thing as the Alpine cable, but it's cheaper.
