:
Hailing from Pyle's Chopper series, the PLA-2200 two-channel car amplifier is designed from the ground up to deliver the power, performance, and flexibility demanded by the modern car enthusiast. The amp is outfitted with two channels that pump 80 watts of RMS power each into 4 ohm speakers or 140 watts each into 2 ohm speakers, with a max power delivery of 700 watts per channel. As an alternative, listeners can bridge the channels into a single 1,400-watt max output--ideal for driving a heavy-duty subwoofer. Also along for the ride are built-in high- and low-pass electronic crossovers (40 to 250 Hz) for precise filtering and a variable input level (gain) control that lets you match the outputs of your head unit with the amplifier. Add in a remote bass boost that increases the bass level by as much as 18 dB and you have a powerful, versatile device that strives to accommodate all types of equipment.

lnternally, the PLA-2200's thermally stable Mosfet transistors are built to withstand prolonged exposure to high temperatures. However, should the amp reach an excessive operating temperature, the unit's thermal protection circuit is designed to kick in, thus shutting down the amp until the conditions cool off. This protective feature dovetails with the amp's other protection circuits, which include both overload and short circuit protection.

0ther features include gold-plated RCA inputs and outputs for high-impedance speakers, a slim design that's installs easily in most vehicles, power and protection LED indicators, anti-thump and soft turn-on circuits, and a remote turn-off function that coordinates with the head unit to save current consumption. The PLA-2200 measures 10.63 by 1.42 by 8.75 inches (W x H x D) and carries a two-year warranty on parts and labor.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - * Great item for the $. ...
This is the 2nd one I have bought. Both are working great. Had a proffessional installer asist in putting it in and he was impressed with the sound compared to some of the other more expensive brands out there. Highly recommended.

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - DO NOT BUY PYLE
Pyle creates crappy car audio gear. They rate their amps by MAX output (must be hit by lightning to reach this wattage).

It has 2 10A fuses. That means it will produce MAYBE 200 watts (any more will blow the fuses). So to rate it a 1400 watt amp is flat out lying.

If you want a cheap amp that actually does rated power, try Phoenix Gold, or Hifonics. They have amps in the same price range that actually put out better power, won't overheat or blow up, and is a far better value.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Works Great for my uses ...
I got this amp to hook up to complete my system, and it works great. I don't usually bump it so loud that my ears pop, but it'll do it. I haven't had overheating problems, but like I said, I don't have it really loud for a substantial amount of time. Bottom line, I'm very pleased. Great price for the product!

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - amp
thank you for this product. It was very useful for my stereo. thanks again
scott. You are an excelent seller.

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - * It's not that good ...

It's a measure of the ongoing popularity of Karen and Richard Carpenter that the 2002 release of this video collection in DVD format comes nearly 20 years after Karen's death. The duo's heyday mostly preceded the MTV age, so this 15-song, 55-minute anthology is a bit of a visual hodgepodge, composed of still photos, footage from TV shows and concerts, promo clips, fleeting attempts at conceptual videos, and other weirdness (film of Carpenters albums being pressed on the assembly line? Hey, whatever). You'll see an array of bad haircuts and outfits and a whole lot of lip-syncing, but in the end, it's the music that counts. And the Carpenters' signature sound, with its brilliant arrangements, its lush harmonies, and Karen's exquisite alto voice, was easy-listening pop at its finest. If nothing else, Carpenters: Gold offers another chance to hear that music in all its glory. --Sam Graham

With a gentle tug at the heartstrings, Evelyn tells the true story of an imperfect father whose devotion brought much-needed change to rigid Irish law. It's a labor of love for star and coproducer Pierce Brosnan, who brings just the right touch of Everyman charm to his role as Desmond Doyle, a struggling Dublin tradesman, father of three, and chronic pub-crawler whose wife abandons their family the day after Christmas, 1953. Desmond's a loving father who's boyishly irresponsible; Irish law dictates the removal of his children to stern Catholic orphanages, and his battle for custody is aided by two lawyers (Stephen Rea, Aidan Quinn) who seize this opportunity to revolutionize the courts. With straightforward, unobtrusive style, director Bruce Beresford draws fine performances from Brosnan, Julianna Margulies (as a barmaid who inspires Desmond's sobriety), and especially young Sophie Vavasseur in the title role as Desmond's bright, determined daughter. Sentimental without being saccharine, Evelyn is simple, well made, and bursting with genuine Irish spirit. --Jeff Shannon

Few would accuse Fantasia of a reluctance to abide by the wisdom that what you've got, you should flaunt, and the vocal gusto she slathers over her full-length debut gets partial credit for earning--and keeping--your attention. To a greater extent, though, the high-wattage help heaped over the Idol 3 champ and Patti LaBelle-sound-alike makes the disc dazzle. In addition to pitch-ins from Missy Elliott, who produced and co-wrote three tracks and busts out a two-snaps-up rhyme on "Selfish (I Want U 2 Myself)," Jazze Pha duets on the ultra-mod "Don't Act Right" and Jermaine Dupri wrote and produced the smolderer "Got Me Waiting." Surprisingly, though, it's not those tracks or even the Idol-propelled cover of the Gershwins' "Summertime" that will stick with listeners most. Instead, first single "Truth Is," a sweet, old-school R&B lament directed toward a lost love, and "Baby Mama," a spirited shout-out to hard-working single mothers, snare standout status with their from-the-gut authenticity. Keeping it real is what won Fantasia the hearts of millions on TV, and despite Free Yourself's likable slickness, it convinces that--hot commodity or no--she's not about to forget it. -Tammy La Gorce
