#2000-20 Mower Lawn Reel Push Classic 20-Inch Scotts

0ur opinion:

Product Review:
The Scott's classic reel mower is light, maneuverable, and economical. The business end of this push reel mower is solid, sharp, and everything a reel mower should be, with five heat-treated, knife-sharp steel blades that can be adjusted for nine grass heights with very easy wheel tabs. With its 10-inch wheels, radial tires, and 20-inch cutting width, this mower should enable you to cross whatever terrain and reach whatever hard-to-access rogue patches of grass you desire. There's no soft cushion on the handle, which is too bad, but otherwise, the Scotts Classic is a durable, well-constructed, simple device.

Testimonials

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Great on everything except weeds ...
I purchased this mower at the beginning of summer, 2008, after reading a lot of reviews all around. On the whole, my experience has been very positive. This mower is easy to push---it's just as easy as any other push mower I've ever used. It's low maintenance. You don't have to mess with gas and oil. It isn't noisy, it isn't generating a ton of noxious emissions, it isn't throwing up dust (for those of us who suffer from allergies, this is a big deal).

Set up was a snap. Using it is simple. The only drawback is that this mower doesn't handle tall weeds (>6") very well at all. I had to go through with a weedwacker to get those. Also, it's tough to get right up next to a curb. Other than that, I have no complaints (even though I have gotten many strange looks and questions about it).

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - Quiet mowing
I got this mower when my electric one broke, and I've used it a couple of times now. Firstly, it cuts the grass very well so there are fewer brown tips (the day after). Secondly, it very easy to push and maneuver around. Since my old mower was out of commission the grass was very tall when I finally got this new one. My experience with this tall grass was that the reel mower would bog down after a few feet and needs to be backed up and charged forward again. After an initial pass it got much easier to push, but the cutting was still uneven. After a second pass things got much nicer. Overall, I think I went over the yard 4 times to get a perfect cut. Now that the grass is not overgrown, one pass is enough, and I've got 2K sq ft to cut.

Pros: Easier to push than a heavier gas or electric mower. Cleaner cut. Quiet. Finely cut grass acts as mulch.
Cons: Harder to mow when grass is very tall. Not good on uneven ground, like near lawn / planting bed borders.

This mower performed as advertised, feels durable, and I am happy with it.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * so far, so good ...
Just got it for our new home which has about a quarter acre lawn. It took about a half hour to get all unpacked and put together, and when I started mowing my wife decided it looked fun so she mowed the lawn. I've only used it once, but it cuts and rolls great and is easy to adjust cutting height. I looked around about an hour online and this seemed to get the best reviews. Now it's snowing so I won't have to mow for a few months. Will update if there are any issues...

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - All I thought it would be
I am extremely happy with this lawn mower. The wide width makes cutting the grass faster. Surprisingly I am still able to get close to my many plants and trees. 1) It is also easy to push - it's really not your grandfather's mower, 2) the heighth adjustment makes it more versatile, 3) No gasoline to buy and no fumes to inhale, 4) no winterizing is needed, 5) environment-friendly, 6) the light weight makes me able to carry it into the basement for winter storage, and last but not least, my lawn looks much better cut instead of chewed.

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - * good when cutting short grass, but a pain with tall grass ...
we bought this when we moved into our new house where seemed like no one had taken care of the lawn after the purchase agreement was signed. It did not work at all because of the tall grass. It simply pushed them down without cutting any. We bought a gas mower right away to save the pain-(: However, we are keeping this one and use it sometime, it works fine when the grass is a little bit taller than what you wnat them to be, not as clear-cut as the gas mower though, but no noise at all, we can use it around the house when our baby is asleep.

You can say this about D.E.B.S.: director Angela Robinson’s 2005 feature isn’t very good, but it is surprisingly entertaining. The premise, which bears a passing resemblance to any number of previous films (from Heathers and Clueless to Charlie’s Angels and the Austin Powers franchise), involves a secret government agency recruiting young women as spies, based on their smarts, their ability to lie convincingly, and the fact that they look fetching in ultra-miniskirts. Four of the D.E.B.S. are then charged with collaring "criminal mastermind" Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster), who has returned to the States after hatching all manner of nefarious plots overseas. Then comes the twist: Diamond is gay, and one of our heroines, Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster), unexpectedly finds herself falling in love with her. Out goes the espionage element; in comes the love story, and therein lies the surprise, as this burgeoning lesbian relationship is handled with unexpected sympathy, even tenderness. Sure, the acting, even by veteran grownups like Holland Taylor and Michael Clarke Duncan, is almost uniformly lame, and the script is silly; overall, the film would have to put on considerable weight to even be considered frothy. Still, D.E.B.S. isn’t a bad way to kill a couple of hours. DVD bonus features include a making-of featurette and commentary by Robinson and the cast. --Sam Graham

The teaming of Johnny Knoxville (Jackass: The Movie) and Seann William Scott (Dude, Where's My Car?) as well as the presence of the '70s-flavored car chases that were a specialty of the TV series guarantees that The Dukes of Hazzard will be even more lowbrow than the CBS TV series (1979-85) that inspired it. However, this brain-damaging comedy is more "rehash" than "remake," as good ol' Georgiaboys Luke Duke (Knoxville) and his cousin Bo (Scott) are frequently upstaged bythe General Lee, the Confederate-flagged '69 Charger that they drive, jump, race, and fly in as they smuggle moonshine for their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson). Meanwhile, cousin Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson) is reliably available to model her short-shorts (aka "Daisy Dukes") and awesome figure (and let's face it, Simpson's talents pretty much begin and end right there), while corrupt honcho Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds, who should know better) recruits a local NASCAR star to advance his wily scheme of converting Hazzard County into a strip mine. Director Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers) manages to mine some good-natured humor from the movie's oval-track detour and a few colorful supporting players (notably Kevin Hefferman as the Duke's pal Sheev). Otherwise, consider yourself warned: The Dukes of Hazzard is shameless Hollywood product at its most forgettable, trafficking in shameless white, rural Southern stereotypes. If you can make itto the end, there's a blooper reel to reward your endurance. --Jeff Shannon

DVD features
Yes, the unrated edition of The Dukes of Hazzard has nudity... but no, it's not of Jessica Simpson, but topless sorority girls. There are also two sets--"PG-13" and "unrated"--of deleted scenes and bloopers. The four minutes of unrated deleted scenes (supplementing the 25 minutes of "PG-13" deleted scenes) include more sorority girls and a menage à trois for Johnny Knoxville . The five minutes of unrated bloopers (the same amount as the "PG-13" bloopers) feature a few more girls but mostly bad language. Featurettes discuss the Daisy Duke short shorts (and show how you can make your own), car stunts, and the making of the movie (narrated by a cast member of the original TV series). --David Horiuchi
