:
Sharp LC26SH20U 26' LCD TV

:
Distinctively designed for an attractive centerpiece to any room, the 26-inch Sharp LC26SH20U LCD HDTV will also provide exceptional HDTV and home theater entertainment for years to come, thanks to its 60,000-hour long life screen. You'll enjoy highly detailed colors and amazing depth of picture as well as appreciate its slim footprint. lt has a built-in ATSC tuner that pulls HD signals right from the airwaves (via an optional antenna), and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. lt comes with its own tabletop stand, and it can also be wall-mounted via optional hardware.

This set features a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution for a true 16:9 aspect ratio--perfect for watching your favorite widescreen movies in the format they were intended. lt has a high 450 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, which provides a vivid picture even when placed near windows, doors, or other light sources. lt also offers a 170-degree viewing angle so everyone in the room can enjoy the picture, a 12 ms (millisecond) response time (which helps fast moving video not appear jaggy), and an 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)

lt has two bottom-mounted stereo speakers that produce 10 watts of total audio power (5 watts per channel). 0ther connection options include:
  • Composite AV (RCA): 2 in
  • S-Video: 1 in
  • Component Video: 1 in
  • HDMl: 1 in
  • RF: 1 in
  • Total analog audio in: 4
  • Analog audio out: 1
  • Digital optical: 1 out

Tech Talk
HDMl is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMl supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. lt supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - *
This TV is sleek, cute, excellent picture but not a TV to put in the family room. If you don't have a HD box, you'll suffer even more, i'm a person that does not care too much for the clear crisp picture but also I have sattelite which manages to give it a decent look. Overall this TV was purchased for my bedroom so it really does not matter to me if I can see a piece of sweat coming off of the forhead of an individual.

The pros

TV is lightweight
Picture is decent but best to have sattelite as cable will not give you a proper picture
Has coaxial port along with RCA and HDMI
Small and compact
Affordable
User friendly
Different viewing modes available

Cons

Channels takes too long to change if using cable
Picture distortion can be annoying at times, widescreen is the only time you really get a good view of what is on the screen
Sometimes if movement is rapid on the screen such as running or fighting scenes, the picture can become pixelling at some point and the picture becomes distorted

Otherwise I am pleased with this TV as it was only purchased to put in my bedroom

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - Great HDTV and great value too!
I have my Xbox 360 connected to this Tv, and it's just awsome. My 360s component cables can do up to 1080i! Witch is good for the proce tag. My only complaint is the amount of inputs. Only one component, one hdmi, and two composite with s-video... A couple more component couldn't hert...

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - *
We decided to get a flat panel TV to save space with HD capabilities because the technology is going that way, but the bulk of our viewing is still just regular digital cable. Maybe I'm just not used to how flat panel TVs look, but the images look dull and blurry to me. People have strange coloration to their skin and movement is somewhat choppy.

Consumer Reports rates this TV's "standard definition" television viewing as only fair. I wish we'd checked the review ahead of time. We're returning it and getting the Toshiba 26HL66.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - sharp 26 inch hdtv
This is a nice lightweight hdtv with crisp picture, clear distinct sound, easy setup and remote variable adjustable controls for picture, sound, other connections such as a dvd player, and can be wall mounted. However, it does change analog channels very slowly-about 10 to 15 seconds--which Sharp tells me is due to the type of processor used in the product. I have it hooked up to my comcast cable without the digital box so I am receiving only a few digital public tv and espn channels). It also appears to emit a low hum that is unavoidable (this is the second one I have used in two weeks with this noise-exchanged another one because of this.)

There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. Oddly, the film's initial soundtrack release may have been the project's most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects much of that oversight, offering original film versions of "Sparkling Diamonds" (the lavish, Nicole Kidman-performed medley of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl"), Jim Broadbent's and Richard Roxburgh's loopy take on "Like a Virgin," as well as the lively Offenbach "Can Can" parody "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)." It also pays homage to the efforts of composer Craig Armstrong, whose quietly compelling underscore often binds the film's other far-flung musical influences together, be they stately orchestral readings of Elton John's "Your Song," a dramatic arrangement for Kidman and Ewan MacGregor's original film duet of "Come What May," or his dark, melodramatic take on Queen's "The Show Must Go On." The first Moulin Rouge soundtrack collection flaunted the film's bold, cross-genre ambitions; this one chronicles its nakedly emotional heart and soul. --Jerry McCulley

It would be easy to dismiss Kelly Osbourne's musical ambitions based on 1) Her royally obnoxious behavior on the family's MTV reality series, 2) Her overly manufactured debut album, Shut Up, and 3) That voice, which up until now, sounded like cats on a chalkboard. But spare a moment for the bratty singer's follow-up effort, a remarkably faithful new-wave throwback, which generously references everyone from Duran Duran to Missing Persons. Producer Linda Perry not only effectively revives the dramatic sounds and melodies of the era but offers songs that perfectly suit Osbourne's, er, constrained vocal range. The resulting disc is full of guilty pleasures like "Uh Oh" and "Redlight," tunes that should strike a chord with anyone that still gets a thrill out of happening upon basic cable reruns of "Sixteen Candles." --Aidin Vaziri
