0ur opinion:

:
Sirus Soloist Universal Boombox Docking Station for the latest generation of radio plug-and-play receivers. The media dock uses the SurfaceSound flat-panel speaker technology, powered by a 10-watt-per-channel Tripath amp. This Soloist docking station utilizes the new Sirius universal connector that shares the same configuration with the Sportster 4. lncluded in the Soloist package is a home antenna, wireless remote, AC power adapter, and a front panel AUX lN and headphone jack, rear panel AUX lN and 0UT, rear panel USB port, and a built-in alarm clock.

:
Bring your Sirius satellite radio receiver or iPod to life with the Soloist universal sound system. Boasting a series of docking cradles and adapters for holding the Sirius Sportster 3 and 4, Starmate 3 and 4, Stiletto SL100 and SL10, and Stratus receivers, along with a separate cradle that holds all dockable iPods, the sound system serves as an ideal audio centerpiece for your bedroom, office, or basement rec room. Simply drop your preferred audio device into one of the docking cradles and you're set. Listeners will love the Soloist's rich, detailed sound, which employs patented NXT honeycomb flat-panel speaker technology to create a dynamic, powerful audio performance. The flat-panel surfaces vibrate seamlessly to provide a full audio range, while the four built-in exciters are coupled at lower frequencies to flesh out the bass response. The resulting sonic footprint resonates in all directions, making this a far more immersive system than most integrated speaker models.

The Soloist receives high-quality satellite reception thanks to its indoor/outdoor antenna, which includes a 21-foot connection cable. For best results, listeners should place the antenna on the roof (the antenna is fully waterproof), where it's more likely to find a clear path to the satellite signals. However, the antenna may still work well if located on the side of the house or near a window, provided it receives an unobstructed view of the sky.

The Soloist is also equipped with an LCD display that coordinates the built-in clock, source, timers, and other functions. The full-featured alarm and sleep timer, meanwhile, come in handy should you locate the Soloist in a bedroom. The alarm lets you wake to one of Sirius's more than 130 digital streams--including music, news, talk, sports, or entertainment--as well as recorded Sirius content or an iPod playlist. The sleep timer works in the opposite direction, playing your Sirius or iPod tunes for 10 to 90 minutes (in 10-minute increments) until you fall asleep.

0ther details include a 20-watt Tripath amplifier; five built-in equalization settings (flat, classic, rock, pop, and jazz); a dynamic bass boost function that improves the low frequency response; a USB connection for hooking up to your PC; line and auxiliary inputs and a line output for connecting external audio sources to the system; a headphone jack for private listening; and a wireless remote with buttons for virtually all of the system's functions, including a 0-9 direct keypad for selecting Sirius channels. The Soloist, which measures 12.62 by 7.88 by 4.62 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one- year warranty.

Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Great Sound, Easy to Use, Extra Inputs ...
This is a great sounding and excellent all-around product. It sounds stellar, even for its diminutive size and extraordinary thinness. There are extra inputs, two actually, for your other audio devices. Switching to these inputs is done by pressing the central selector button on the front. It's a snap. Volume control is digital but it works fine. Blue display is pleasing to the eye and not too bright. (One glitch is that the full-featured, well-designed remote doesn't seem to be compatible with my Sportster 5 radio. Using any button on the remote unintentionally changes the channels on radio.) If you have a Sirius radio, the Soloist is a top choice for a compact, home-based platform.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - Good sound, docking station isn't great.
The sound is great, however when adapting to use the Stiletto the cradle does not fit in quite right. It may be a flaw in manufacturering, as it appears it should screw in, but the holes don't line up properly. Once you get it set into place it connects and works fine however.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Great ...
I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He's a gadget lover! He loves this system! We have both Sirius & an ipod. It works great with both. We had a small cookout w/ some friends & used the system w/ our sirius radio. It worked great. The sound quality is good & we don't have a problem picking up a signal anywhere in our house!

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - Good if you don't want to wake up.
One of my main reasons for buying this stereo was for the ability to wake up to my ipod. However, it doesn't work half the time. The directions for wake up to the ipod or sirius are abysmal. They tell you how to program the stereo to wake up, but not what to do with your ipod/sirius. I have yet to be able to figure it out which has left me using my ol' phone on through out the night with the volume up. Given my family's penchant for being "morning people" and their love of communication, this means I wake up about an hour earlier than I would prefer everyday. But that's neither here nor there. Just be aware that if you don't care for the alarm then you'll like the product. Although it is difficult to get my ipod into the cradle. I had to take off the case I had on it.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Awesome! ...
We love this! The sound quality is great. We bought it for our sirus radio, we don't have an Ipod so I don't know how it sounds with that. We haven't mounted the anntana yet, but we will. Love this product!

There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. Oddly, the film's initial soundtrack release may have been the project's most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects much of that oversight, offering original film versions of "Sparkling Diamonds" (the lavish, Nicole Kidman-performed medley of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl"), Jim Broadbent's and Richard Roxburgh's loopy take on "Like a Virgin," as well as the lively Offenbach "Can Can" parody "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)." It also pays homage to the efforts of composer Craig Armstrong, whose quietly compelling underscore often binds the film's other far-flung musical influences together, be they stately orchestral readings of Elton John's "Your Song," a dramatic arrangement for Kidman and Ewan MacGregor's original film duet of "Come What May," or his dark, melodramatic take on Queen's "The Show Must Go On." The first Moulin Rouge soundtrack collection flaunted the film's bold, cross-genre ambitions; this one chronicles its nakedly emotional heart and soul. --Jerry McCulley

It would be easy to dismiss Kelly Osbourne's musical ambitions based on 1) Her royally obnoxious behavior on the family's MTV reality series, 2) Her overly manufactured debut album, Shut Up, and 3) That voice, which up until now, sounded like cats on a chalkboard. But spare a moment for the bratty singer's follow-up effort, a remarkably faithful new-wave throwback, which generously references everyone from Duran Duran to Missing Persons. Producer Linda Perry not only effectively revives the dramatic sounds and melodies of the era but offers songs that perfectly suit Osbourne's, er, constrained vocal range. The resulting disc is full of guilty pleasures like "Uh Oh" and "Redlight," tunes that should strike a chord with anyone that still gets a thrill out of happening upon basic cable reruns of "Sixteen Candles." --Aidin Vaziri
