* Happy with my boombox ...
I have had the unit for less than a week and have yet to use it on batteries alone so I cannot comment on that yet. The sound quality could be a bit louder but I purchased it for use while camping so it will suffice for that use. The unit is lightweight. The antenna needed to be placed outside for me to get the best reception while indoors. However, there is plenty of cord for me to do that. This boombox will serve my needs well and I am happy with it.

It is what it is
Its a small boombox. Sound is not bad, but not great. Good for patios, beer, and grilling. Easy to drag around. Here in Charlotte NC you cannot get a reception indoors, so it can only be used for outdoors. I think in bigger cities there may be more ground repeaters. Overall for what I use it for its just fine.
Oh, it would have been nice for to have equalizer controls.

* Garbage ...
Don't buy this unless you plan on taking it to the beach - it is useless for the house. As the other reviews pointed out - the antenna only works outside - 20 feet from your home. So plan on purchasing a seperate roof antenna and at least 50 feet of extra cable, and then get ready to spend an entire day installing it, or add the cost of hiring an electrian to do it for you. Oh yea, it stopped working completely after 3 months from unconnecting and reconnecting the antenna as you take it from room to room.

use it all the time and love it
i dont know why everyone is complainning about reception. i put the antenna in my window sill, and ive had zero problems. the boombox has a switch also where u can plug in your mp3 player with a 3.5mm cable, which is very nice. sound is decent, but both xm and sirius audio quality are not great. but it is loud, and it will fill the room with sound. anyways, its very convenient, small, and portable, and ive used this boombox every night for a few months now with no problems.

* Money for nothing ...
I received this "boombox" along with the sportster receiver as a gift. It spends 90% of the time not playing while it is "acquiring signal." This gift cost someone well over a hundred dollars, and it DOESNT WORK. Plus--I had to pay for a subscription, and it DOESNT WORK.
It wont even play one song without cutting out several times. The longer I have the unit on, the worse the reception is. (Once it played for a whole fifteen minutes, but that was one time. Oh and after that fifteen minutes it refused to play for whole hour while it said "acquiring signal". I left it on while I moved the antenna around jsut to see what happened. Nothing is what happened)
And I tried everything with the antenna including hanging it out the window. Nothing improves the reception.
I live in Queens, New York and I am not near tall buildings, trees, or transmitters. I have satellite TV which works fine. I have a cheap little portable shortwave radio receiver which works surprosingly well. So the problem isnt my location. Its the product.
Dont even ask me about sound quality. It doesnt work long enough to tell.
If they were honest they would include a free one week trial subscription with their tuner/boombox. But they dont. So you have to invest in a receiver, in a boombox, AND subscribe. Its a lot of money, especially since yours may not work.
Oh, I know they say you get a discount when you activate online. Dont bother. They overcharged me and refuse to credit my account.
