SlRlUS Sportster 4 features the same large, easy-to-read display, rotary turning knob and large buttons as the previous Sportster models, but now fits even easier into your car, home or boombox.

:
Get in the game with the plug-and-play Sirius Sportster 4 satellite radio receiver, which sports a new slim profile while still maintaining the same great features for which the Sportster series is known. Just like other Sirius-compatible receivers, the Sportster 4 offers a large, easy-to-read display, a rotary tuning knob, and accessible buttons, but now moves seamlessly into your car, home, or boombox. More significantly, the Sportster 4 maximizes the listening experience of Sirius radio's broad sports lineup, with the ability to decode the incoming Sirius digital-quality signal from more than 120 music, news, and sports channels. lt's also easily transportable, and thanks to the bundled car kit, lets you listen to your favorite satellite radio programs while driving.

An easy-to-read, six-line display tells you the channel name and number, category, artist name, song title, and time simultaneously. The receiver also lets you program up to 30 presets of your favorite streams, as well as search by stream, artist name, song title, or category. And with a quick press of the 0ne-Touch Jump button, you can instantly switch between the traffic and weather reports for your city or any of the other music, news, or entertainment channels. 0ther programming details include an S-Seek function that stores your favorite artists and songs and alerts you when one is playing on any of the music channels, direct station tuning via the numeric buttons, and a channel lock option. Time functions, meanwhile, include an onscreen clock, alarm, and sleep timer, as well as a program alert that allows the unit to switch to a preprogrammed stream at a selected time.

The Sportster 4 really earns its stripes, however, with its variety of enhanced features designed specifically for sports lovers. The Game Alert feature prompts you when your favorite NFL or other sports teams are playing on Sirius. The Game Zone lists all of your favorite teams in one virtual category and lets you select a different team from each of the various sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, NHL, and college sports. And what sports fan could do without the Sportster's instant replay function, which lets you pause, rewind, and replay 44 minutes of live radio? As soon as you tune to a channel, the receiver automatically begins storing the audio for later playback.

The Sportster 4 also includes a built-in FM transmitter that sends Sirius radio programming to your vehicle's FM tuner, so you don't have to make a direct connection to enjoy the full array of channels. Simply set an empty FM frequency on your radio and tune the Sportster 4 to the same frequency. This function also works with other FM tuners, such as the one on your home stereo, but is easily paired with the car thanks to the bundled vehicle kit, which includes everything you need for listening to Sirius while driving. Components include a vehicle docking station, a suction cup mount, a vent mount, a DC power supply that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter, a roof-mount antenna, and mounting hardware.

Sirius satellite radio is a subscription service that provides more than 120 channels of programming, from digital-quality music to news, talk, and sports. lt is available only in the lower 48 states--not in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories. The Sportster 4, which measures 4.5 by 2.9 by 0.6 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one-year warranty.

What's in the Box
Sportster 4 satellite radio receiver, wireless remote control, lithium battery, vehicle docking station, roof-mount antenna, suction cup mount, vent mount, cigarette lighter power adapter, mounting hardware, installation guide, Sirius channel information card, user's manual.

Testimonials
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Utterly Unsatisfying [Sirius Satellite Radio Receiver, Sportster 4] ...
I am completely and utterly unsatisfied with this product. It simply did not work. I am also disappointed with the Tiger Direct return policy. I spent almost a hundred dollars on a product that did not function properly and could not return it to the seller! I spent days trying to return this item with no results. I would criticize more if i had any energy left at all to discuss this matter.

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - Yikes !
I go tthis for my dh for his birthday cause he had wanted one. Needless to say I wish I hadn't bought it. We ended up cancelling the service all together, we had bad reception in alot of places. I tend to believe it is not just the unit, cause we know alot of people who are not happy with Sirius.

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Great if you like hiss ...
Consistent with other reviews here, you'll quickly discover that unless you physically wrap the direct FM antenna cable around the antenna outside your car you will not be happy this this radio. Unfortunately its not made for that so you'll just have to learn to live with that awful hiss. This is my third radio in the same car and the two previous models ( pre Sportser ) worked perfectly.

On the upside I was able to get a refurb unit for nothing as part of a subscription renewal, but I think even at that price I was ripped off.

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - not the best product
Tried first to use the basic user installation with plug into car extra power supply, fm extender, and antenna on dashboard. That was totally useless---all I got was 90% static no matter how many "unused" fm stations I tried, including all those customer support said were for my area code. The sound was very poor even though my car audio system is "high end" The dangling wires were a mess, and the vent mount blocked one of the vents. I finally went to Best Buy and had a professional installation ($75)with an fm modulator ($30 additional. No more hanging wires and pretty good reception with out having to change the presets as I travel. The receiver is mounted on the lower left front windshield and is not obtrusive at all. That having been said, I still think they are ripping me off on "sales tax" or whatever the call it. I have XM radio in my hose and pay nothing but a monthly fee, and it's less than Sirius. Actually I like the XM channel line uo better, but I got the Sirius as a present. So---Unless you, hard wire the unit into your car radio system, my thought is to forget this product.

Buyer's feedback: 5 out of 5 stars - * Awesome FM Reception ...
Installed a refurbished Sportster 4 bought from Sirius Site. Upgraded from an Audiovox radio purchased 5 yrs ago from Walmart. Others have written that there are problems receiving FM signals on their vehicles radio with the Sportster 4. However, check out the sirius site and look for the stations they recommend you setting your radio to by plugging in your Zip. This would solve many of the issues others have written about in regards to the "bad" reception. I've had absolutely no problems with interferance. Awesome buy it!!!!

One of the most unjustly underrated Italian operas receives a production that should help correct that attitude. Andrea Chenier is based on the true story of a poet who was caught up and destroyed by the blind fury of the French Revolution. Giordano's music captures the acrid flavor of that movement, the cynicism of some of its leaders, and Chenier's integrity and tragic fate. This production's value has probably increased since Plácido Domingo, the leading Chenier of his generation, has dropped the role from his repertoire.

All three principals sing eloquently and with a fine sense of the opera's structure and context. Anna Tomowa-Sintow is in even better voice than Domingo, and Giorgio Zancanaro heads an expert supporting cast. The Covent Garden Chorus, directed with distinction by Michael Hampe, gives a memorable impression of the revolutionary mob. Julius Rudel's conducting is totally idiomatic. --Joe McLellan

It would have been better, of course, if this 1984 production of Donizetti's Anna Bolena, or at least its title role, had been filmed 20 years earlier, when Joan Sutherland's voice was in its spectacular prime. But like her Canadian Opera Norma, dating from 1981, this is a better-late-than-never documentation of one of the most remarkable voices of the 20th century.

Lotfi Mansouri spared no effort or expense in making this production special. He personally directed the staging, and handpicked an outstanding cast (right down to the very young and then-unknown Ben Heppner in the small role of Hervey). The visual elements--sets, costumes, and camera work--are also handled with great care, and Sutherland's positive response to this dedication can be sensed in her performance as the unfortunate wife of King Henry VIII. James Morris is best-known as a Wagnerian singer--perhaps the leading Wotan of our time--but he is equally at home in many of the villainous roles that are the fate of bass- baritones (Iago, Scarpia, Don Giovanni). In this sinister tale of an innocent woman ruthlessly destroyed, he shows a surprising knack for the bel canto style. Judith Forst is also excellent in the role of Jane Seymour. --Joe McLellan
