0ur opinion:

:
Using a powerful microprocessor, GPS, and satellite-based accuracy enhancement technology, the SkyCaddie automatically calculates, as you move, distances to up to forty targets per hole simultaneously in less than a second. You will already have your number when you get to your ball. You don't need a clear line of sight or reflective target with the SkyCaddie. Because the targets are pre-programmed, the SkyCaddie eliminates the need to aim through a lens, accidentally hitting the wrong target on a hole, or trying to hit a pin with a laser beam at 200 yards.Get accurate measurements over hills, trees, and obstructions to any target. Play confidently and knock strokes off your game. Learn how far you hit your drive, 5-iron, 9-iron, or wedge with a touch of a button.Just let the SkyCaddie see the sky, and it'll do all the yard work for you! Plus, at a mere 4.8 ounces, it goes anywhere you go. Now your game can measure up, just like the SkyCaddie!

:
Designed for avid golfers who want advanced capability in a light, compact and rugged form, the SkyCaddie SG2 Golf GPS gives you an eagle’s view of each hole from anywhere on the course. ln addition to getting distances to bunkers and other hazards on the course, the SG2 is equipped with the patented lntelliGreen technology, enabling you to measure the full depth and shape of the green from any angle of approach, both on or off the fairway. Part of SkyCaddie's exclusive, professional 4-Star SkyCourses, lntelliGreen graphics provide an eagle's eye view of the green with an indicator representing a direct line-of-play from wherever you are on the course.

The SkyCaddie is as easy to use as a remote control or cell phone. lf all you want are distances to the green, just turn it on and you won't need to touch another button throughout your round. The SG2 automatically advances to the hole you're on and displays the same information you'd find on a sprinkler head, regardless of where you hit your ball.

With an annual SkyPlayer Club Membership Plan (not included with purchase of device), you can easily download thousands of our professionally enabled SkyCourses. Three different levels of memberships are available, based on how many courses you want to store and play. lf you do not want a membership and your course is not already available, you can record the front, center and back of each green with your SkyCaddie's quick set-up module, which takes about 10 seconds.

The SG2 has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. A full charge of a depleted battery only takes 3 to 4 hours and typically lasts up to 10 hours of continuous use.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can the SG2 give me the distance to the pin?
A: The SG2, using the lntelliGreen graphics found on our professionally recorded SkyCourses, provides more useful information than just the distance to the pin alone. 0nce the line of play is selected on the graphical green outline, this provides the minimum carry to get on the green, the maximum limit you have to the back of the green, plus you can adjust to obtain the third distance of the approximate flag location using a pinsheet supplied by your course or visual observation. All three distances are provided simultaneously from any direction as you approach the green. You can then frame your shot in a much larger target area and select the best club. You will hit more greens and have shorter putts than a single number can provide.

Q: Does the SG2 automatically come with the courses l want?
A: No, but you have two ways to get the courses you want. First, the SG2 includes a special feature to make it very easy (less than 10 seconds on the green of each hole) to set up your course to measure distances to the green. SkyCaddie also offers three modestly priced membership plans that offer a number of benefits and access to course information on thousands of professionally mapped courses through the SkyGolfGPS website.

Testimonials

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Sky Caddie 3 ...
This GPS unit never worked correctly. It burned up batteries and required constant resets. Sky Golf delayed my demand for a product replacement with software patches and reset recommendations until the limited warranty expired. They then demanded a prior authorization of $30-$100 in repair costs before issuing a return authorization. When the unit was returned a replacement stipulation Sky Golf simply kept the unit and failed to respond.

Buyer's feedback: 3 out of 5 stars - Works great when working
I have used skycaddie for about 2 ½ years. During the first year and one half, I had to replace two units under warranty, both with different problems. The first replacement appeared to be a refurbished unit and didn't last very long. The last unit has given great service and performance. I compared the readings with my fellow competitors unit from a different manufacturer and both units were within two yards of each other. This suggests that they were both accurate and that both companies were probably using the same master database. Customer service was adequate, but a failure rate of 2 out of 3 units in 3 years is not up to reliability standards of modern electronic technology

Buyer's feedback: 1 out of 5 stars - * Buyer Beware ...
I purchased the SG2 spring 2007. 2 months later the "Mark Button" failed to work. I really liked this function because it really help to know how far I'm hitting my scoring irons, so I spent the whole summer playing the guessing game. At first I thought it was a firmware issue but earlier this year they updated the firmware with the introduction of a new satellite but the darn thing still does not work.

Satellite acquisition is slow. If you are inclined to purchase a sky caddie make sure you charge it the night before you play. My battery will last about 27 holes but when the battery signal gets below 50 percent you should be extremely suspect of the yardage numbers.

If you mark your own course you may want to verify your yardage at each green periodically to ensure the yardage is true. I recorded my greens directly at the front edge and sometimes the device would be 10 yards off and this could easily equate to a 30 foot 2 put to save par putt. As we know a 30 footer can easily become a 3 jacker for bogey.

The golf season is just beginning here in the Chicago area. I will see how the device works. If it does not perform I will have to chalk this up as a lost and go purchase a Bushnell. A fellow golfer has the 1500 and it is more accurate that the GPS because you directly target the pin.

Buyer's feedback: 4 out of 5 stars - Great as long as you are getting a GPS signal
I got a Sky Caddie SG4 for Christmas Dec 2007. The process of downloading the courses from the Web site was not the most user-friendly process, but I did manage to do it after working at it for a while.

The first two times I used my Sky Caddie, it worked exactly as described and was absolutely wonderful. It's simple and intuitive to use, and it's great to have all of the distance information at your fingertips on the course. (Of course, it is a little ego-deflating when you find that you aren't driving the ball quite as far as you had imagined.)

The third time I used my Sky Caddie (on the same golf course I had used it the first two times), I could not get a GPS signal for the first 12 holes. Finally, it kicked in (for no known reason) on the 13th hole. It was cloudy out, but, sheesh, I live in Seattle and if Sky Caddie can't handle clouds, I am in trouble!

My SkyCaddie battery so far lasts about two rounds of golf - no more -- before it needs recharging.

I have no complaint about the Sky Caddie's build quality: it seems well constructed to me. I also have no complaint about recharging the battery: it's easy enough to do. I haven't had my Sky Caddie long enough to have an opinion on battery replacement.

Buyer's feedback: 2 out of 5 stars - * Poor product ...
I've been using the sky caddie for a year now. I have to say that while it works when the course is mapped professionally (only), its really a poor product for the following reasons.

A) It uses a non standard USB cable. Designed to fleece you to have to buy the cable from them if you lose it. Such behavior is really bad, its deliberately forcing the consumer to the product vendor for supplies, instead of allowing competition. Its like kidnapping.

B) it requires an annual plan to get the courses. Once again this should not be the case. Charge for a course or whatever, I don't mind. But once I have it don't make me pay for it over and over again.

I cannot recommend this product and I urge consumers to vote with your dollars and buy the non binding options now available on the market. I am going to sell mine on ebay. This applies to all sky caddies not just this model.

Usually we're fans of Logitech's gaming mice, but its highest-end G9 Laser Mouse is expensive, overly complex, and lacks the ergonomic thought we've come to expect. If you like to brag about dot-per-inch limits, perhaps the G9's 3,200dpi laser will be enough to sell you, but for the price, we expect the design to match.

Small and light enough for a shirt pocket, Samsung's Helix YX-M1 is a one-stop audio entertainment center with an XM radio, a digital music player, and room for 50 hours of tunes, but it comes up short on battery life.

There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. Oddly, the film's initial soundtrack release may have been the project's most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects much of that oversight, offering original film versions of "Sparkling Diamonds" (the lavish, Nicole Kidman-performed medley of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl"), Jim Broadbent's and Richard Roxburgh's loopy take on "Like a Virgin," as well as the lively Offenbach "Can Can" parody "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)." It also pays homage to the efforts of composer Craig Armstrong, whose quietly compelling underscore often binds the film's other far-flung musical influences together, be they stately orchestral readings of Elton John's "Your Song," a dramatic arrangement for Kidman and Ewan MacGregor's original film duet of "Come What May," or his dark, melodramatic take on Queen's "The Show Must Go On." The first Moulin Rouge soundtrack collection flaunted the film's bold, cross-genre ambitions; this one chronicles its nakedly emotional heart and soul. --Jerry McCulley

It would be easy to dismiss Kelly Osbourne's musical ambitions based on 1) Her royally obnoxious behavior on the family's MTV reality series, 2) Her overly manufactured debut album, Shut Up, and 3) That voice, which up until now, sounded like cats on a chalkboard. But spare a moment for the bratty singer's follow-up effort, a remarkably faithful new-wave throwback, which generously references everyone from Duran Duran to Missing Persons. Producer Linda Perry not only effectively revives the dramatic sounds and melodies of the era but offers songs that perfectly suit Osbourne's, er, constrained vocal range. The resulting disc is full of guilty pleasures like "Uh Oh" and "Redlight," tunes that should strike a chord with anyone that still gets a thrill out of happening upon basic cable reruns of "Sixteen Candles." --Aidin Vaziri
