0ur opinion: :Terk Technology TV-5 Low Profile lndoor Antenna - You might think an indoor TV antenna is as outdated and useless as the 8-track tape, but think about it for a minute. lf you have satellite TV you know the joys of having your service knocked out during a storm, cable TV sometimes goes out of whack as well, & some people simply do not want $50 a month in television channels. All are great reasons to pick up an indoor antenna like the Terk TV-5. This specific antenna has a great low profile design which stands just 4 3/4' high and fits inside most television cabinets. ln addition to that, the built-in video selector is a great convenience - letting you switch between broadcast TV & a video source (ie: DVD, VCR or video game).

Position, Position, Position & NO Quality
You a taking a big chance with the TERK TV5 (discontinued by the mfg.) especially if you need the ability to switch between the antenna and cable or other video input, and/or you are not in a very strong reception area. The antenna/video switch failed completely in 11 days. The unit no longer has any continuity to the coax input, no matter what you do. It can still be used as an antenna with the gain turned on and all the way up. That is, IF YOU CAN PLACE IT IN THE RIGHT SPOT and POINT IT THE RIGHT DIRECTION. For a unit that is supposed to free you from those constraints, it fails miserably and produces all sorts of interference and snow if the location and direction are not perfect.

* Great Antenna ...
Very pleased with this antenna. Had an old Phillips antenna (rabbit ear type) and only got about 3 local HD broadcasts. Hooked up this Terk and get all of my locals perfectly (most of them at 100% signal strength). I live between 13 and 30 miles from most stations.

Disappointing
I got this antenna after borrowing a directional Philips PHDTV3 antenna from a friend. Despite getting pretty mediocre reviews on Amazon, that one got pretty good reception in my apartment, but only in one direction (as it was designed to do). This antenna from Terk is multi-directional, so it gets a lot more channels, but only a couple of them are coming in 100% clear. This product had such positive reviews that I expected it to perform at least as well as the antenna with poorer reviews. One of these weekends when it bugs me enough, I'll probably try moving it around some more to see if there's a better spot, but it's so big that there aren't many places I can put it.

* review title goes here :) ...
works much better than the old antenna I had on this set. I added the digital TV converter and now get all the "sub-channels" (there's probably a more accurate term) in addition to the main digital ones.
I'm using a Smart Powerstrip, too .. so when the TV turns off, so does the digital converter and this Terk antenna.
